What To With Old Growtent?

I bought the pvc growtent about 15months ago and it my seedlings were stuffed after a while,so i stoped growing in it.Seems like a waste to pay that much for something just to throw it out,so im wondering if there might be anything i could do to it to make it worth growing with.

 

I thought mabee i could take the tent off the frame and go buy some mdf board or something for the sides,top and bottom and also buying some thin foam or something mabee even thin plywood for the door flaps and just stick them on there with glue.

 

I could screw the mdf board directly to theframe and use silican to smooth over any gaps.After all of that i would be putting the tent back on over the mdf and i was hoping that the mdf would stop the pvc heating up and releasing its gasses.Any thoughts on this?Mabee we could all still use our pvc tents after all if only there was something we could do to them.Would beat spending triple the cash on a mylar tent.

I use a tent, and havent had any probs with it. Have you tried growing in it again? Maybe the seedlings died from something else? If you have good airflow through it, it should be fine............

should have taken it back to hydro shop for a refund maybe too late now?

well what if ya set it up outside for a week or 2 maybe the toxins will be released

I'm going to use my big tent for shaping surfboards when I'm done growing in it, it's already set to go really, filtered extraction/high UV lighting/filtered intakes. Plus it's UV proof for working with UV cured resins.

There are many threads online that go into detail about the cheaper tents giving off gasses that kill plants, most of which end with the grower giving up and tossing the tent out

 

Personally I would put the tent outdoors and have it inside out or laid out so the inside gets direct sunlight for most of the day. Most of the threads I have read say its a combination of the heat and light that releases the gas so exposing the tent to direct sunlight for a couple of weeks might force the tent to release most of the poisonous gasses making the rent usuable again. Then again it might not do any good and could infact bring some unwanted attention, but if you can't bring yourself to part with the tent and have a fairly private backyard it might be worth trying out

Why don't you use panda and velcro and make a tent around the existing frame?

 

Carefully cut a hole roughly the size of your duct work, line the inside of the cut hole with duct tape to reinforce then push the duct work through and tape a seal both sides.
