I think its a grate idea and would like to see a proper trial of this program hear in Australia just to see how it goes however this is the part i don't like

"The creation of a "POLICE BOOK" system similar to the car business: A registrar for buyers and suppliers, name/ address/ drivers license / medicare cards as proof of ID. To be available for inspection at each cafe"

Why do they need this info? I don't need to have my name and license number along with my address logged when i go to the bottle shop to buy booze or ciggies so what exactly do they want this info for? is it so later on down the track you can expect a knock at the door from the filth? The police book should only log the amount sold next to a receipt that cannot be tracked back to any individual, just like a normal place of business.

If im not mistaken that's total invasion your privacy and basic rights of a citizen of a "free" country to log anyone's personal details not to mention having someones credit card details along with their drivers license and medicare details is more than enough information to have your identity stolen!

Keep it simple, hand over money, 2 copy's of the receipt are printed, you get one with the product and the other is logged into the "police book", I thought this was more a move to trial "Taxation" of the herb not invade our privacy. If it is a matter of taxation the police should be looking at the businesses records for the shop in question and seeing if the match the "police book" records

maybe you will get a free boat lol

no

that would be called entrapment

and that is not a legal bust

and the book would not be admissible in court too

:wallbash:

they would lose big time if they try that

Sorry Nimbin Hemp Embassy but I think you may have been blinded by your zeal, or possibly are simply too trusting of said officers motives, either way please let this one die a quiet death :/

G`day folks

I don`t blame people for not participating in this experiment but if we want change re prohibition it has to start somewhere ! i can understand also that some folks have families that they would not want exposed to a police raid .Just renember that timeless quote "all it takes for evil to prosper is for good men to do nothing " .

While Nimbin the town is not my cup of tea with seemingly lotsa junkies and pretty ordinary weed with the same dealer askin if you wanna buy sum ganja bro 3-4 times in a 1/2 hour , NO THANKS . I brought my own bro ,heh heh .

Will be very interested to see developements as they are announced .

Thanks for sharin

Sadly Australia abolished it's anti-entrapment laws a few years back. Entrapment is a technique actively used in Australian policing today.

After a bit of reading my understanding is that while we do still have anti entrapment laws, since the late 90's (and particularly since 9/11) they have been interpreted differently.

The current precedents are that unless the police involved are breaking the law to obtain the evidence it will be deemed admissible in court.

Makes the idea of putting my details on a list even less appealing :nea:

I do admire the fact that these issues are taken up in Nimbin and brought into the public arena for discussion.

I also get the feeling of another police/government shafting....

The anti hydro laws are still a huge embarrassment, anyone who did and still supports that idea are elitist wankers that helped make the law worse for people.

I hope more brain power is used this time around.

I agree Daz, it's about time Nimbin concentrated on Nimbin and stopped pretending to be the voice of all cannabis users in Oz. Who can't admire that? IMO this has the potential to be a good thing for Nimbin if done right and in a sensible legal way. It would be great to see a model others in Oz could follow if this works for the Nimbin community.

The hydro laws are a huge embarrassment (as are the roadside drug testing laws) and they've had a massive impact on the cannabis users of Oz who DON'T have the privilege of being able to grow outdoors. Here's hoping there is more brains involved behind this initiative FOR Nimbin than is shown by those in Nimbin who believe they represent ALL cannabis users in Australia with the following 'constitutional mandate'.....the Nimbin Hemp Bar and the evils of hydro

IMPORTANT NOTE: When we refer to cannabis and marijuana in any of our many webspaces, we are ONLY talking about organic outdoor cannabis. The Nimbin H*E*M*P*Bar, by 'constitutional mandate', champions ONLY outdoor cannabis, we ONLY endorse real hippy pot, totally natural, organic - CANNABIS grown with its roots in the soil and its leaves in the sun. Bush Buds.
