Lumlux Digital Balllast

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I just bought a new Lumlux 600watt digital ballast from ebay and they said it would run any HPS I wished to put in it, I put a 600w Phillips HPS in that I had and it started up then turned off within a minute. I waited for about 5 mins but nothing else happened so I put the old ballast back in and the lamp works fine.

Has anybody got any info on what lamp I am supposed to run etc. any advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers

hey bn007

no expert and may sound like silly Q but check the stamp on bulb if there is a

h :horizontal

v; vertical

u; universal (works both h and v)

as i have recently gone from coil ballast to newgen digi ballast with the same bulb as you and no probs at all,

so unless ya changed bulb position (H to V or V to H ) witch i doubt, and ya havnt been sent a 400w ballast by mistake ( always possible on ebay)and the bulb works fine in coil ballast :wallbash:

id guess its the digi ballast :crybaby: do you have another bulb to try :scratchin: or did ya use two diff lamp leads :scratchin:last resort ring a hydro shop or a lumlux rep in oz and rack their brains  i cant think of anything else hope its helped a little

happy solutions to ya mate...HM

ps when ya get it sorted ,it will be worth it ,i love me digi ballast best coin iv spent

I read somehwere that some digital ballasts have aproblem firing a new bulb for the first time and exactly what happened to you will happen. After 2 minutes it switches off, however when it does fire it up it will continue to do so consecutive times. Its only the first time on a new bulb for some reason.I would suggest trying it again. If not take the bulb back and get another.
