Cfl Kit Verse Multiple Bulbs?

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

I'm thinking about setting up my first grow room. I've been reading the forums for several hours now.

I'm planning on a simple start, I have some Northern Light from seeds botique and I'm planning on a robe grow in my shed in a couple of weeks. I'm planning on doing 2/3 plants, in soil.

My first and most important question atm is lighting. I've been looking at CFL for heat (in QLD) and cost etc.

SUNBRITE 250w DIMPLED SHADE KIT+ 2700K & 6400K LAMPS - AU $170.00 from Discount Hydroponic Supplies but I've been reading some posting recommending seperate individual CFL bulbs (about 4) rather than a single tube CFL.

Whats the best for the plants(i) and cost(ii) for veg and flowering. I assume we can get the individual bulbs light required at Bunnings (i think it was philips cool lights).

Heya - You can use them cfl's & theyre Great for Clones & seedlings & Veg stage (provided they have a bit of kick), but to Flower you cant go past a HPS(high Power Sodium) Light :peace: . Even a 250watt light & ballast will cost about the same as( or less than) your cfl's! Theyre not so bad on Power either. Better Results, Possibly more plants can grow, & on & on! Anyways, a combo is best for You in my measly opinion. That way you get great yeild & great Power Bill..!..:applause: Good Luck amigo.

Hey frew =) , Listen to Mungas and save yaself any heart ache. Dazz@ and EV are onto it mate, As someone who went out and bought a couple of 130w fluro's for the flower tent to suppliment my 400w HPS and then found out they did not much at all and would of been better off with a 600w HPS and saved a heap of $$$ I can tell ya, go HID, and never look back. :peace: GH72
