Are feminised seeds just hermophradites or do they just grow females ?

 

I have always believed that once a hermie always a hermie

 

does anyone have any views on this ?

How are seeds feminised anyway? The answer to that will most likely answer your question.

depends, guys. Self pollianted plants can only give off female seeds because they carry XX genes, Not XY. Yes there is a possibility of herms but a good breeder would have ensured his mother plant didn't carry the hermie gene before "selfing" her. If you treat fem seeds real well & don't stress 'em out with heat, wrong nute levels etc then you reduce the risk of hermying.

I do believe GA3 is the way to go.

Rare Exotic Seeds stock & sell GA3 ( Gibberellic Acid ) & post out to Aust. for a modest fee. 10g will last a looong time. Conflicting reports about strenth of solution. 25ppm - 100ppm seems to enable bananas to appear. You want to ensure you have a stable mother, though. You can also alter the photoperiod (length of light) to induce herm but it aint the same. Breeders will use light to weed out the hermies & THEN self the few ladies that didn't herm. Only THOSE ones don't carry the herm gene. From them they "self" to achieve fem seeds.

GA and other additives are used (in this case) to get female plants to produce pollen sacs.

So all other things being equal a femminised seeds left to it own devices will most likley produce a normal female plant.

Feminized marijuana seeds are produced by cloning and “shocking†female plants by spraying them with a silver solution. This prevents them from developing as males. The seeds from plants that have been treated in this way will only produce female plants – hence they are called feminized marijuana seeds.

 

So what are people's experiences with these?

you're on the money, Bat. There is a fear put out that selfing promotes herms. If you buy from a quality seed supplier like DemonSeeds then you'll know they came from a good breeder
