I've been doing research and cant find many answers. I'm starting seedlings outside at the moment and there good seeds which are quite limited in stocks. Anyway havent had the best success rate. I decided to get two 20w CFL to put them under to get them up and strong. What i want to know is if I put the plants which have been outside and then into 24 hour for a couple of weeks then outside will they flower and re vert back to veg/just flower/ or veg? I also have a seed which is going into straight 24 hour and then ill put it outside when its 5 inches or so, same deal, what can i expect?

I can only really relate this to being under stronger lights than the ones you use

But going from the 24 hr to outside, I believe the plant will sense the shorter days and start flowering

But this is not necessarily a bad thing as it will sex the plant

And as you are putting it out early enough in the season, it will recover from any confusion it has

Eventually it will realise the days are lengthening/ warming and revert back to vegetative growth

And then continue as normal

Oh, and make sure you are feeding it veg nutrient the whole time (high nitrogen - low phosphorus)

 

The other way around, again, keep feeding it a high quality (I always used soluble) high nitrogen plant specific nutrient

Being given a good source of constant light they should thrive (not sure what a 20w CFL is - maybe a fluro?)

When you put it outside again, it may do the same as above

I'm not sure how long it would take for a plant to react to changing conditions in these circumstances

Indoors under strong light, it takes about a week

But again, you are putting it outside early in the season

So assuming they are strong, well fed plants, they should overcome any stress/ confusion they have

I was in the same situation a week ago.I shot down to good Ole bunnings and got a couple of 24w CFL's that pump out 3000Lemens combined.Wacked them in the old fridge with a heat mat and bonza,all was good again.

I just recently put one of the girls outside from under the 600 and its tarted re-veging.it looks strange once they work out it's time to grow again and starts putting out 1-3 fingered leavs.
