Sandy Soil

So Ive found a potential growspot thats only 1km from the beach and obviously the soil is quite sandy. How does weed grow in sandy soil?

You will have to build the soil up with compost and manure, water crystals etc have a browse around the site you will find the info you need.

Ive got all the soil, compost, manure etc ready to go. But mixing some of the sandy soil say 1/3 into my holes shouldnt have any adverse effects right? Maybe help drainage?

With beach sand I wouldn't be worrying about drainage, you may have some probs with winds.

Good point rev. We have winds of 100kms sometimes during cyclone season. May have to stake them

Being that close to the beach, wouldn't salt be an issue?

 

I'm meaning in the sand/soil and also carried in the wind building up on the plants.

 

I know there is plenty of greenery on the coast, but I would have thought all those sort of coastal plants would have evolved to cope with the salt.

 

Just a thought or curiosity.

Good point and I thought the same. Cant find any real info on it so Im just gonna give it a go and will keep everyone updated
