Outdoor Soil Mix

Recommended Posts

I am after some info on a good outdoor soil mixture. The soil I'm planting in is very poor so I wlli have to bring my own in. So far I have Yates premium potting mix, brunnings organic garden soil, hortico compost and some dynamic lifter. What other mediums should I add and what are ideal ratios for the mixture.

Cheers

I'd add some dolomite in to help break down the organic matter and adjust your ph. I'm pretty sure I haven't heard the best things about Yates but im sure it will be decent enough. Your compost and dynamic lifter will contain a fair bit of nutrients in them and in addition with brunnings organic garden soil which also has a fair bit of organic matter.......you wouldn't want a lot more nutrients. Just tend to them with some additional ferts during veg and flower.

I also just moved my soil to my site and the recipe was adjusted from subcools high times organic soil recipe

I adjusted his recipe and mine came out at something like

9 bags of Organic soil

2.5 bags of Seales organic 5 and 1 (great product, pretty hard to find though)

3 bags of Top soil

15kg Worm Castings

Perlite

Dolomite Lime

Water Crystals

A bit of clay mixed in from the site

All the best,

Thanks for the quick feedback guys. I'm mixing in a bit of soil from the site as it's not as bad as I initially thought. It is quite coarse though with small pebbles through it which I hope will help with drainage. Would it be a good idea to add some perlite or something aswell? How many plants does that mix usually cover you for scraps?
