What Size Holes?

Recommended Posts

I once read that cannabis is as big underground as it is above ground so the bigger the hole the bigger and better your plants will be.

Generally speaking though if the soil at your grow spot is of a high quality the hole won't need to be that big. You'd just need to make it big enough for the plant to get well established and then it will dig down and mostly take care of itself. On the other hand though, if the soil quality is low I would recommend digging a massive hole and thinking of it as a buried pot as the roots probably won't be able to spread out past the edges. If you're in that position I would probably dig a hole 2-3ft wide and 5-6ft deep as that would be big enough to cater for the biggest of plants :)

The soil at my plot has high ph and not very good drainage. Im planning on filling the holes with a mix of soil and compost so I suppose the size of the holes will depend on my budget. Im heading into bunnings tom with $200 to see how much I can buy for that.

there are members on other forums that are getting 1 pound plus using holes 1 foot deep by 1 foot wide.

as stated its all in the soil mix

chicken manure, cow manure, horse manure, blood and bone, gypsom and a dash of volcano rock dust, mix well and make sure you wet it down, let it sit for a month but if you can let it cook for 2 :) and you will be growing monsters :)

dont go to heavy on the chicken manure that stuff takes for ever to break down and can leave your mix hot

Im a bit behind the 8 ball and need to transplant in 2 weeks as my seedlings are growing quick and are only in small pots. I was waiting to get some spare cash to buy soil and compost. So given that my plot will only have 2 weeks to cook before I transplant my little girls what things should I avoid adding apart from the chook poo to avoid any burn?
