Watering times?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I just moved my rooted plants to my aero system, and wanted to know if you guys could give me some advice on how many times i should water a day and for how long.

The plants are in net pots, rooted in rockwool plugs (pots filled with hydroton).

The plants will have a 400watt Mh for light (I have a 430 hps for bloom)and the aero machine mistes nutrients at the roots. There are 6 360degree mistres that completley airate the grow chamber with nutrients. After the nutrients are sprayed at the bottom of the net pots then it is recirculatd back to the reservoir.

I was thinking of misting for 15 minutes every 3-4hrs is this to long to wait for watering??

I use an airo 5 system and the pumps stay on 24/7, That was the advice from the hydro shop and it works well. I have noticed wilting after about 1-2 hours of pumps being off with lights on.

I was told to only water twice a day for the first couple of days of transplanting into netpots to get the roots growing quicker but if your got roots coming out of the pot go 24/7.

Alright cool, i already got the roots in the pots so it looks like 24/7 watering is about to comence.

Since you use aero, I have heard people complaining about as soon as power failure that roots dry out very quick and that plants can die easily.

Have you ever lost a crop from not watering roots?? I have eletrical storms were i live and power failure is possible, how long you think i would have before plants dried out?

Thanks

KK

Nah, the only way to wett the roots would be to open the lid and do it myself, if there was power failure. I went out and bought a new surge protector with a battery backup for $75, I think itll keep the pump running for a bit if power goes off, but i see my plants every 4hrs unless im at work.

(maby water every 5 hours....)

How often you think i should water nimer?
