Our government is stupid, can we educate them?

Hi all, I recently sent our pm a letter regarding marijuana, alcohol and legalisation and see below for their response...

maybe if more of us keep sending them letter they will start listening

The sad thing is that anti-marijuana zealots have the freedom and means of openly opposing marijuana whereas us marijuana advocates face issues when it comes to presenting scientific information and evidence concerning our point of view. I'm sure if the evidence were promoted by the government or trusted 3rd party that 72% disapproval rating would change.

 

You should reply Raph and ask for the scientific evidence that to back up their claims. It would be interesting to see the response.

Its a catch-22 predicament - you cannot sponsor something that is illegal so that reply was misleading.

 

I dare you to write a similar email asking for the CRIMINALIZATION OF TOBACCO then compare the responses (Ill put $100 on them not supporting you).

In response, could I enquire as to what benefits there are in using a criminal justice approach concerning those specific potential side effects of cannabis abuse that you noted in your reply? Further, what is the ultimate aim of this drugs policy in Australia?

I would but I sent it using their website and I didnt think to keep a copy (sent it a while ago) . I sent back another reply asking where they get their evidence and clarification on the other things he spoke of... be interesting to see his reply Edited August 28, 2010 by lolitsraph

Complete bullshit, the only research that shows the stated harms in the response, is research done by lame anti-drug organizations... Just don't like the anti-marijuana comment, what a load of crock.

 

Somebody please show me hard evidence that marijuana causes any permanent harm, besides general damage to the lungs from long term smoking.

What would happen if they were scientifically forced to base their laws on facts?

I reckon cigarettes and alcohol would be at he top of the list for damaging substances.
