Is a 18W 60cm 2 tube fluorescent light good for vegging?

Recommended Posts

how many clones u need?

cause that is wat would guide my decision

fluoro will provide foliage

dont expect many strong laterals

personally i use a 400w hps for my vege and mums

clones to root i use 2 x 18 watt growlux fluoros

once rooted i transplant and harden off under the more intense hps

but if i fair dinkum id bbe veging under straight metal halide

as hps is more for flower and incourages natural pplant stretch imo

even a 250w metal halide wil keppa personal grower in enuff clones to stay afloat

all the best

The 130w Cfl you brought up in the other thread would be a better option than the tubes, I keep a couple of small mums under one and also use it when i take cuttings. It sits 3"- 4" from the top of the plants, about 6"- 8" from the humidy dome and has worked well for myself.

But as Bill said the amount of clones you require would determine what you need to use.

I suggest giving this a read bosai your mums.

Intresting, I think I will go with the 130w fluorescent, those 18w's I researched are used mainly for aquarium plants & coral growth!

Do the bonsai plants produce good clones?

I do have a book on bonsai that will come in handy as well, even though the referal link you gave leaves all my questions answered!

Thanks mate :)
