leafy buds

Recommended Posts

hi guys, hoping someone can tell me if its normal for buds to have quite a bit of leaf growing through them? they are at 4 weeks of flower, and as im a first timer i have no idea if this is normal. im sure that some leaf will appear in the bud cluster, but some of them are quite large, so any info would be greatly appreciated. also im wondering when buds grow the fastest, 1st 4 weeks of flower or 2nd??

ps: should i cut off the larger leaves that are growing on the bud??

Thanks :bongon:

yea leafy buds can be a genetic thing specially in bagseed

ive found i can get leafy buds in cold winter flowering outdoors particularly when sunlight intensity is low

i dont think removing leaves would see any advantage, maybe just stress plant :o

got any :bongon: ?

flowering is a complex stage an takes anywhere from 8-12+ wks

simplistic example of growth from day of light going 12/12;

first two wks plant changes gear from growth to flower during this time plant stretches out, doubling its height

next 2-3wks stretching stops and plant builds big flower platforms with tens o thousands of fresh young calyxs awaiting pollination

in following final 4+ wks if no pollenation then the flowers fill up, with all the calyxes swelling up and getting bigger and fatter,

up to a certain point then growth tapers off as plant knows it is fast coming to the end of its life
