use a different light source while taking photos. camera doesnt take light at the same rate or something like that... like filming an older tv with a camcorder you see the black lines flicker through etc... excuse the ramble :)

 

but yeah use a different light source for photos bedroom light or lamp

Pretty simple really, magnetic ballasts run at 50hz, which means your hps light is actually on/off 50 times a second.

The human eye only sees light at approx 25 frames a second so to us it is a constant light, the camera in your phone sees at a higher frame rate so it sees the flicker and its light meter gets overloaded trying to compensate.

A different light source or a much higher quality camera are your options.
