when i try taking photos all i get is 50% of the plants the rest black lines ? im using a hps 1000w and a phone can any help pls would be good

use a different light source while taking photos. camera doesnt take light at the same rate or something like that... like filming an older tv with a camcorder you see the black lines flicker through etc... excuse the ramble

 

but yeah use a different light source for photos bedroom light or lamp

Pretty simple really, magnetic ballasts run at 50hz, which means your hps light is actually on/off 50 times a second.

The human eye only sees light at approx 25 frames a second so to us it is a constant light, the camera in your phone sees at a higher frame rate so it sees the flicker and its light meter gets overloaded trying to compensate.

A different light source or a much higher quality camera are your options.

I was told using sunglasses infront of the camera lens gets rid of most of those lines. I haven't tried it though as my camera can handle the light from a hps globe.

 

Have you tried taking pictures when the lights are off and using the flash on your camera?

would some other form of uv filter be the go maybe?Ive tried taking photo's of my 600w setup using a high quality pair of polarised sunny's covering the lens of the camera and got the black lines also.

yeah that will stop the black lines, wont stop the flicker so half your pics will be bright, half much darker (just depends on where in its cycle the light is at time of shutter actuation). Just snap a lot of pics to compensate and choose the best

Just open up and grab a few pics within 15min of the lamp switching off...

(O.K. 13 for the anal retentive botanical techo types...)
