What to grow to mask canna odour outdoors

Recommended Posts

I think we all have this bloke for a neighbour....short arsed, big noting obnoxious little man with manicured gardens & rose bushes full of flowers!!! Always telling the local kids off for kicking the footy too close to his garden...you get the picture :)

I accused him of calling the cops for my hydro set-up & haven't really spoke since. He did send his wife to complain about the outdoor odours!!! :)

With such a neighbour, I would not be provoking him OR growing mullies outdoors... security fail

Compliment him on his nice garden... then late at night throw rocks on his roof, then complain to him about local kids throwing rocks at your house last night... :crybaby:

Then put dog shit in his letter box in the middle of the night... then next day smile and wave to him and say good morning mate, how are you?

Then burn his house down while his asleep inside....

Hey mate,im a newby here.Thats classic bout ur neighbour,at least he only whinges to you bout the smell ey.I know Lantana puts off a pungent sort of smell, not sure if its a weed or not though,it grows like a weed.just an idea anyways.

Sorry for bumping this thread, but yes Lantana is a noxious weed in NSW, not sure about other states. Real tough bugger to get rid of, when i done work for the dole a while back there was a work rehab group at the place i was doing it at. They had to use pretty heavy duty chemicals to make sure it stayed dead.

I've got a friend who works in a nursery, and there is a native Aus plant that smells exactly like our favourite plant. He said he can always tell when his customers are smokers cause they all stop at the same part of the nursery and start looking around, trying to find it.

Maybe you could buy some, or even give some to your neighbour, tell him you had a few left over from your garden and thought with him being the keen gardener he might like them. Not sure what it's called, will try to find out for you, but it's definitely a native

i no the plant you speak of!

it grows all around WA and when i was a kid went in the hunt for huge crops of mul only to find this native plant...

my misuses dad always called it ''dog vein'' but im sure thats not the real name for it, ill ask if and repost later!

im not sure you would want that stuff in your garden anyways, they spread like wildfire, it brought down my misuses fence!! and from a distance is a strong mull smell so that would attract unwanted attention..

Shame about your neighbor mungas, why cant they just be tolerate! :wallbash:

thank fellas. The thought is to grow it out front so everyone can get used to the smell. That way any odours can be put down to the smelly shit out front!!! I'm growing my own Red Devil cross that has low odour...until you water overhead or start to play with it.....boy does it stink then!!!!
