Need advice on upcomming grow

Recommended Posts

Im currently preparing an outdoor grow, Will be purchasing the seeds from BC Bud Depot

Now I have a few questions, Price isn't a problem,

Now first of all im fairly sure i want to go with organic nutes but can anyone recommend me some organic nutes or their opinions on organic growing,

1. I was thinking about Canna Bio range but i have heard complaints of no dilution rates, Can anyone confirm this or recommend a different range of nutes,

2. Growth additives : I was thinking about some Roots Excelurator, Although i also saw something called Rock Super Growth which was also interesting as it is an organic nutrient, Any other recommendations for any additives that will help speed up or strengthen my plants would be much appreciated

3. If i we're to decide against organic nutes what would be the wisest choice, I have been looking at the House and Garden Range,

4. Whats a good medium for a brisbane outdoor grow, Just any personal mix's or recommendations for soils / mediums.

5. Any info or recomendations on pots also, Just plain pot and drainage pot?

Thanks for any advice you are willing to share in relation to outdoor growing, Any tips are welcome

Hi Dr Kush,

If this is your first time growing, I'd just try and keep it as simple as possible.

Regarding medium, you can't really go wrong with a quality soil mix. Just add a handful or two of perlite for better drainage. The benefit of soil is that it already contains many nutrients for the plants to use. The cheap 'thrive' general fertiliser would work fine as a supplement, IMO using the expensive stuff is not really warranted for your purpose.

It's might be preferable to put your plants in the ground. If that's not an option try large pots, aim for 75L or thereabouts. If you're in Brissie, seeds planted in November can still reach 6ft tall in a pot of this size. A bigger pot will grow you a bigger plant however, so find a size that will work best for you.

Good Luck.

Hi

I have found searles potting mix a good allrounder add ver ,per,an I like a cupfull of lime to stop things gettin too salty, some sea weed solution is good an doesn`t mess with npk .also foliar feeding can be a good way to nurse a sick plant or boost a hungry one ,also start supercropping or lst early an you won`t regret it!

good luck

Ive read some really good things on seaweed/kelp liquid it has a good ph level, minerals,

nutrients & plant hormones, it helps to

protect against insects, disease, drout, frost & help strengthen & flower plants

& make more flower sites, it also helps to root plants for cloning!

For good drainage, I bought a growing ganja book a long time ago from a second hand shop

& it states for drainage

you can line the bottom of the planter with a singel sheet of news paper & use sand or un-used cat litter.

Or use pearlite or sand in the soil mix, I think the soil should be rich but not clay like or

clumpy when pressed together.

I made a soil mix for some fruit trees I planet a while back, they seem to do okay, I used

sand in the bottom, organic soil, mulch & a lil crushed lime stone as a soil mix & mulched the top soil.

& sprayed them a couple times with diluted kelp.

But I read a guys blog on his grow, he used lime & either bat or worm castings

& it messed up his plant up bad, the leaves looked burnt, I'm not sure if thats all he fed them.

He found an article stating, its bad to use fertilizer & lime together.

I read if using all organic nutrients you can over feed plants Vs chemicals which can burn the leaves.

but lime can also changed the PH of the soil, increasing the PH.

PH level (alkalizing Vs acidic) (ph Vs acid forming) Its good to have a ph as close to 6.5 as possible, if

a substance in to high on a alkaine chart, it can cause burns, but this guy said his ph was low,

it was really odd!

But moderation is prob the key!

There is also azomite mineral powder/clay that is vocanic ash rich in minerals

people use for growing wheat grass, a alkalizing mineral rich drink!

When growing fruit or vegetables, its said the plants will only have as many minerals

as the soil they were grown in, which most of the soils are pretty depleted in

minerals these days.

also Food grade de

Its high in slica, some people eat it too!

I think de might just be good for pest though, I'm not sure if slica would be desired or

If we want to grow the herb in slica, might make them to hard, not sure!?!? hhmm....

I did see a video on youtube, that was filmed in a medical growing green house in Canada,

Their method of growing & cloning was to use liquid seaweed, hydrgen peroxide, no damp,

cloning root hormone & soil mixes & have some awesome plants at the end :)

Hello... I'm glad to read that you're growing outside....If you must go to the big store to buy your soil ect, try buying a bag of compost for every bag of soil mix....this is for you to use after you repot after a few weeks..mix it well when you put it in the pot...don't worry about perlite yet....get the biggest pot you can(BIG) and fill it will a 50/50 mix of store bought soil and 1 of compost....not mushroom compost although that is good if you know how to use it...for you though...keep it simple...use seaweed based products like Seasol for 3 times weekly applications...you don't need any nutrients from a hydro store...nothing mate..Get your babies up a few inches...give em Seasol after that i can expand more....good luck...and i will help you get a crop this year.

Hello... I'm very glad to read that you're growing outside.... To start of outdoors use 50% seed starter soil mix , (easily available) and 50 % compost...This will ensure a good beginning....Later on if you must go to the big store to buy your soil ect, try buying a bag of compost for every bag of soil mix.....mix it well when you put it in the pot...don't worry about perlite yet....get the biggest pot you can(BIG) and fill it will a 50/50 mix of bought soil and compost....not mushroom compost although that is good if you know how to use it...for you though...keep it simple...use seaweed based products like Seasol for 3 times weekly applications...you don't need any nutrients from a hydro store...nothing mate..Get your babies up a few inches...give em Seasol after that i can expand more....good luck...please keep it simple if you want a good harvest.. :peace:
