Good luck sawyer. Safe run mate.

Hey Sawyer...

Good luck this season mate...just a quickie...Have you used the hessian pots before..??

How would/do they handle the summer heat...i imagine they'd dry out very quickly...like the idea though..

Cheers fellas,

I personally haven't used the hessian pots before, but I've seen them used elsewhere. I wanted to grow a couple of plants in really big pots, like the med growers do in NorCal. That's where I got the inspiration from. I would've preferred having massive holes in the ground for extra stealth, but I couldn't be arsed digging them. Building these pots was a much cheaper alternative.

I'm a little concerned about watering issues, but I hope to have a decent pump set-up running in the next month. I've been doing most of my watering by hand at night so far, and it's getting tedious already. All of the plants are out of the 8" pots now and into bigger ones. I'll try and do a photo update by the end of the week. For now though, I'll let the rain make my life a bit easier.

I'm heading off for the w/e, so I snuck up the patch and took a couple of flicks. I'm not sure what I'm getting myself into planting out this early. This particular plant is going to be an absolute beast. It's a foot tall and a foot wide and it's only mid September. Yikes!

I've weeded out a couple of the tall skinny stragglers (prob males) already as well, so I can focus my attention on the remaining plants. I figure the good recent rain will tide them over for a while whilst I go and let my hair down a bit...

Some of these might just do the trick:post-679-070998800 1284629141_thumb.jpg

Update time...

Last Thursday I went to check on the plants and I took a tape measure with me. The big one was 43cm tall and the others a bit smaller. I went again this evening to give them a drink and take some more measurements.

The big one had grown 12cm over the 4 days to 55cm. They've gotten over their transplant shock and are truly cranking now. I found a few males as well which were subsequently pulled. I think I'm just all females now, but we'll see.

The middle of these was a male. Yoink!

The big one. I'm thinking she needs a name. Any suggestions?

I thought I'd shift one of my plants to a different location that I had used successfully a couple of seasons ago. It's a much lower maintenance site, sitting in it's own micro-climate on a creek bed. It blends in much better with the greener environment there too. I've just gotta be careful it doesn't topple over after heavy rains, so it'll be staked in well when she gets bigger. She's about 40cm tall at the moment.

I know it's a she, because she started flowering this last week. No matter, it should reveg without any problems. I'll have to check the plants at the other patch and see how they're faring.
