IBD and Cannabis?

Does anyone have experience using cannabis to help IBD (Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis)? Did you find it to be beneficial?

 

I've read some mixed statements from various people, but I'm just after opinions basically.

My brother has Crohn's..

he has it for around 12 years now.. uses pot for medication and he says its helped him, smokes a joint at the end of the day most days....i dont know much about it myself just know what my brother has told me..

All i have to say is give it a go! i have do google Crohn's to find out what it is and id dosnt sound fun, you have my sympathy.

 

i have an unrelated condition and took what the docs gave me until the side effects became so bad that i now have a second permanent condition for which i will need to take pills to control ..... for the rest of my life!

 

Cannabis dosnt cure or help with everything but even if it dose nothing at all it was worth a shot. God knows what is in the prescriptions the docs hand out like candy on the off chance they "might" help.

i feel eating cannabis is the joyful way to go for you to treat Ulcerative Colitis

you need to find the best dose rates for your body weight

 

a good start is to use cannabis same as doc prescribed antibiotic and antimflamtory drugs

double dose first then a normal dose every 4 hr

follow that plan till you feel better

if you have a major sufferance happing

you may need to eat a large amount of hash oil, say 1oz over 30 or 60 days

or longer

this is strictly a personal affair

only you can know this

what works for you may not be nuff or may be too much for someone elce

 

self medication will need some experimentation to get it right

I'm know this is an old tread but thought i'd put my 2cents in.

I have had Crohn's disease for just on 2yrs (longer, but that was time of diagnose)

Basically it is an AUTO_IMMUNE disease and main thing is IBS (IBD). Your body's immune system basically gets confused and starts attacking cell and things it thinks are "Foreign", basically effecting everything from your mouth to your anal passage and everything on the outside too. Most stories from IBD patients are very different, showing the vast complexity of these conditions. My symptoms include constant switching between the runs and constipation, constant re-forming hemorrhoids (since i was about 10yrs old) weeping and dry eczema all over the body, cannot process foods that have high acidic levels and when in chronic phase red meat and hard to digest food is out. The main thing that got me heading off to the doc years ago was the feeling like my gut was "eating" itself, which is exactly what it was doing. My small intestine had a few "layers" of hemoraging and chronic inflammation.

the other thing you need to know, is i've smoked pot on and off for half my life. I am not yet 30, but have been smoking it since I was 15, smoking it everyday from about 19yrs old.

 

I can honestly tell you from my experience the the active ingredients in Cannabis THC/CBD are God's wonder-medicine. I only started actually feeling any symptoms of my disease until I decided to give up pot. About 3months into it ( I was about 21yrs old at the time) I started getting severe pain while defecating, I'd always struggled to push one out, but now there was clear pain. Also, my gut feeling started, with the whole "eating itself" and I was basically in constant discomfort and pain, just waiting for the next time I had to go to the toilet and feel like dying. Also my skin conditions really started to flare up, and basically would be sick the entire of winter and no ability to heal at all. I'm a guitarist for a living and had horrible "lesions" on my fingers, couldn't handle it! Had to go back on the pot as my anxiety over all this just went through the roof. I was also married with 2nd child on the way, studying and trying to feed fam as well. Not smoking anywhere near as much as I used to. The doc's for treatment tried all sorts of "Steriods" and "Anti-anxiety/depression" but they, LIKE ANYTHING PRODUCED BY THE PHARMO"S!, mayde me feel like a robot, I'd always been against anti-anxiety/depression stuff and I was been shown first hand why. It was scary! I stopped being creative and couldn't work properly. Wife and I stopped having sex! like, STOPPED, I just didn't care, it was like something just switched off a key ingredient of WHO I WAS! which after much research and talking to the doctor...Thats exactly what it did! Shut off, or switch around my serotonin system! This is why I can't sleep most nights, because most people are beening subjected to this treatment, then being told that's all there is for you, we can't help. BULLSHIT! they know THC and CBD have medicinal properties, but it won't make them money like Vicodin, Zoloft and Codeine will! So thats why we are feed lies!

So back onto smoking pot I went and basically INSTANTLY my symptoms are completely managable without ANY DOCTORS! I had the piles removed and minor surgery on my small intestine, but that was 2yrs ago and literally haven't seen ANYONE since!

I urge anyone with questions just go to YOUTUBE and search "RUN FROM THE CURE" The Rick Simpson Story. I still smoke pot, but am working my way over to the VAPORISER. I advise anyone with medical conditions who haven't tried cannabis before and are considering it, Vaporising is the way to go for you.

I would love to be able to get my hands on some "hemp oil" as it is the 100% concentrated form of THC. GODS MEDICINE!

 

When will we wake up and realise that we made a mistake all those years ago in out-lawing this amazing plant. I sincerely loss sleep over this fact and where the world is actually heading these days. And i'm only 27, and know ppl younger than me who can see this. Sooo Sad.

Glad it worked out for you. the amount of people shovelling that Pharma crap because they are not aware of alternatives is staggering and saddening for what they must go through in side effects etc. Screw the system, it don't work, do whats best for your own body and don't let anyone tell you different. how have things been going Shadow? Crohn's is a nasty disease and I've heard nothing but positive things about pot from the couple of people that I know with Crohn's. Give it a shot. The worst that is going to happen will be that Family Guy will get funnier and you'll eat a pizza.

 

I don't have Crohn's, just a tiny bit of IBS which flares up if I eat before 11am or noon. My system just cant handle anything more than water and a bit of juice until I have been awake for 4 or 5 hours. A little puff calms down my digestive system, after which I can eat breakfast without running to the toilet 20 minutes after eating.

 

THC and the other chemicals in pot are absolutely fantastic for many symptoms and diseases. Give it a try and let us know.
