Does this sound good?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys im just preparing myself for summer.

Im going to run 4 plants this year. Four Feminized Dutch passion mazar.

I went out and got 4 x 100L big grow bags that the nuserys use... Im prepared to finish the plants in these...

Ive got

4 x 100L Canna Coco mix and 1 x 100L perlite bag to be spread between the 4 plant mixtures.. Does this sound like a good medium???

Ill be feeding them canna A+B through veg then pk 13/14 in the end....

This will be my second grow and hope they turn out to be monsters so it can last me the whole of the following year!

If i was in your shoes and going down the path u are, i would order say 1/2 to 1 tone of a good potting mix the odds are it will cost u a lot less then buying it in bulk rather than in bags.

For me i would do say a 30/70 mix 30% perlite 70% potting mix.

With the nutes you have to be careful, hydro nutes can be used in a soil grow but they can build up in the soil very fast and cause u a lot of probs.

I wouldent water with nutes anymore then once a fortnight imo, and with the canna pk 13/14 i cant really say in flower but i do know that sulphate of potash is like using the pk 13/14, it helps add weight to the buds but it is the same as using any nutes in a soil grow less is more in the end because soil all ready has most of the good stuff that the plants need to grow imho...

Instead of getting expensive Canna brand coco, you could look into getting coco from the source: cocopeat.com.au/products/bales

I've had good experiences with these guys, I got a couple of CP300 310L bales for $66, and it's excellent quality. Not the ultra compressed shit that you get from Searles or Bunnings, but real fluffy, consistent substrate.

Have a look at their product sheet, I bet it's exactly the same stuff as the bagged Canna coco.

As for your medium... your options are many, and varied. I personally think you could do better than 1 part perlite, 4 parts coco, and hydro nutes. But it sounds like you want to keep it simple, so perhaps do that, and see how it goes.
