Power spike cause

The first underlined bit contradicts the second underlined bit, which is why I wanted to know the answer.

Sheesh hey.. lol

 

So you found the answer and it was ..... the capacitor or ignitor that makes a voltage spike and strikes the arc in the lamp.. (?)

Now you just gotta work out where that lives..

 

Start up current is higher for that moment.

 

Unless of course you are talking electronic ballasts, rather than mag/iron core... didn't see you spec that tho -
