Power spike cause

Humm, well in order to start a bulb u need a ballast........What r u tryn to say man.....u need an ampage to start yes, u need power yes... Now is what ur sayin when u turn it on ur worried about the power it uses and who is watching ??? if not what the fuck u talkin bout.

 

And fuck ya, i dont need words i got pics...something u dont cause u cat even start a 400 watt light

lol . That was neither bulb or ballast.

 

I repeat you have no fucking idea what I am asking. I am asking if the bulb causes the power spike or does the ballast IF hooked up to a flip flop. Because using a flip flop the ballast does not fucking turn off, it just flips the lights in another room on. So the ballast does not get 12 hours of time to lose its heat, it would remain constantly warm.

 

Now do you understand??

I'm not real sure what answer you're after here INAC.

 

What's this flip flop? Are you switching over to unlit lamps, from lit ones? Ballasts have voltage all the time?

 

If so, all you are doing is getting a new start up current as the unlit lamps strike.

 

You already know the 'spike' comes from the ballast/s. As PPG said, you answered it with the ballast specs quote..

I said I think it is caused by the ballast, so I wanted clarification so that I would know for sure. I know stupid thing to want to clarify something that has the "potential" to overload circuits.

Post #36 is using the wrong relays, they are not rated for 600V and will not handle the 5000V spike when a 1000W bulb is lit.

 

 

In the other thread Olyver made this comment and it got me thinking is it the bulb or the ballast.

 

Using it in a flip flop is completely different scenario as compared to one single 400 watter.

In the original thread I mentioned two 600 watters, so that makes a difference. That is why I wanted to know.

Yes thankyou MongyMan. I finally found it though on a different site, but glad that you could back it up.

 

 

 

A flip flop box is not going to prevent spikes. If someone were watching your power line they would see a sudden drop to be followed by a slow ramp up of current starting a second later. When you turn a HID light on, the current starts off low and then increases as the bulb brightens. quote - BlindDate
