Using a 600w in a 6ft x 3 ft area is a problem because the light wont stretch the full 6ft and you will get poor growth either end of the space. 2 x 400w in that space is ideal imo . I run 2 spaces of the same size each with 2 x 400's and they boom.

 

Only gona get same amount of 3 plants as ya would off 30 is by adding about 3 weeks veg time

 

Yup. If you don't take veg time into account then its much of a muchness (more plants comes out a touch ahead from my exp.) But if it's accounted for you defiantly get more turning over smaller plants faster.

And if he uses his old 400MH as a veg room, veg time don't matter.

 

PPG, I didn't make any suggestion at all in that entire post about where to get your air from (Inlet) or where its going (outlet).

Thanks everyone for the replies! Lots of info for me to mull over I didn't get time to buy the lights this week, so i will go to the hydroponic shop this week & see about their Lumatek ballasts. the reason i wanted to add the two lights is, they will fit perfectly on the robe rods giving the whole robe maximum exposure. I have a fan in there, & keep the double doors semi ajar, which is next to an open window, currently i don't think i need any sort of air diffuser, but i'll check that out as the plants grow more. the robe is sitting at 28.7 and humidity i have setup on a timer which keeps it at around 66 with the plants growing quite well even with this initial setup. i let the dog in with me to supply CO2 whilst i am in there (don't know if this works), & am looking forward to getting all my bits & pieces & seeing the end results.

 

I won't need to setup a seperate flowering robe as the closet fits 13 11ltr pots easily, & i am guessing that this should give me enough medication for quite some time, & i can grow one batch outside in summer. i think 2 grows should be ample for my medication & whatevers left over i will try my hand at making hash.

 

As for the electrical bill, My reptile room is running 3700 watts of lighting alone, so a couple of hundred more watts in the house won't make much of a difference That's where the solar panels do their stuff.

Just gave my advice on how a cooltube should be setup, if u dont like the advice dont read it, Im very happy with my resluts as they speek for em selves. Yes things r hard to understand when u already think u know everyting

Well we want the light closer for two reasons, the leaves get more direct light, and you have more grow space.

So, in conclusion, if you want to put a 600 in there, you will NEED to buy a cool tube. a cylindrical glass tube with a steal end. The light fits inside and it is then connected to your ventilation fan and hopefully a filter, sucking out all hot smelly air.

Plant a seed and a clone ( both can be F1 hybrids if you want ) on the same day. Then 8 weeks later, see which plant is bigger. I can guarantee you it's not the plant started from seed by a long way.

 

But lets assume they do end up the same size. The one started from seed still wont yield more just because it was from a seed ( seeds arn't magic beans ) the clone originally came from a seed too you know?

Well Mongy, information provided by other members and Jorge Cervantes led me to believe such was factually true about F1 hybrids. Well, there are other factors in cloning like growing out mothers and rooting the clones as well.

so give me a bit of slack hehe

Cyclone, clones will always be faster off the mark, it's a simple case of your vegetation is already there, all you need is roots, a seed needs a whole system to grow from it. Mongy knows his shit for sure.

PPG is also right about the cool tube, they run better pulling fresh air and exhausting it seperately from your grow room ventilation and carbon filter, why run hot air through your cool tube? the whole idea is to keep the globe cooler and pull the heat away from the grow area. Sorry dude, we all make mistakes, I posted some pearlers, luckily we have these guys around to straighten us out. Good luck. GH72
