wich hydroponic setup is best?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys and gals, been doing a lot of reading on the forum and ebooks but one thing has got me confused. What is the best system for growing medium to large plants? By what i have read it seems that the drip/flow recovery kind of set up is the way, am i right? most of those systems use rock-wool I don't like the idea of rock-wool due to its disposal factor and it cannot be reused. is there any benefit to using rock-wool over say expanded clay or gravel/perlite mix?

So far my plan is to build a small table onto witch 2 nelly tubs will sit, below the table will sit the resivour both top nelly tubs will be connected together in between via a T connector and drain into the resivouir below, nutrients will be supplied via a pump submerged in the resivour and feeding into both tubs Ps nelly bins are those bins that you get from bunnings for general storage made by nylex not thoes cheap plastic tubs made in china.

cant work out how to upload a pic i hope u guys understand what i mean

hey Mate good see ya doin some research:) If ya want big plants n keep numbers down i have growen in 35-50 liter pots in coco/perlite and can get about a pound with enough veg time. Still atm i do still use coco/perlite just smaller pots more plants to keep harvest times down to 8 weeks. I keep a res in my room and hand water everything....it does take time...30mins every second day but keeeps ya in touch with ya babies.

What lights n fansa ya getting or got....that will play just asmuch part in how ya gona setup.

Thanks for the help guys, Ive downloaded a few ebooks, one i alredy own in paperback and the other i just got from amazon cos i thought it was awsome and if i like it that much i should just buy it >:(

Ive given it a shot in the past with less than impressive results and don't wanna do it wrong again. From my last failed attempt i have a 600w hps and cool tube, i was gona buy a 1.4x1.4x2m grow tent, a 150mm fan, carbon filter, cf/ppm stick and ph tester and buy or piece together a hydroponics system. Should i have a fan blowing in as well as sucking hot air out?

I do also have a 1000w MH but i think its an over kill for such a grow tent. My plan was to put the resiviour outside the tent so i could check it any time with out exposing the plants to light (i belive this is why i got hermies last time, going into the room during dark cycle) the tent itself i was gona set up on top of a shipping pallet so it gives me a bit of height above the resivour.

Ive seen that Planet skunk still seems to offer reliable service to the land of AU so i was gona give it a go to get proper genetics as apposed to "hey i got some seeds form a mix ages ago" and it turning out to be crap. Just wondering if female seeds are worth the extra $$$ and do hermies pop up with them at all?

Setup sounds good for 4 plants in 35 liter tubs man, 600 watts in cooltube is perfect for that but u will need a separate 150mm inline fan for that and a 150mm inline fan for intake. Make sure its a 150mm centrifugal fan for ya carbon filter/ exhaust as inlines arnt strong enough >:(

as food seedbanks havent ordered so cant help ya 2 much there but plenty info inline for ya ;)
