Vote for Greens drug reforms.

Recommended Posts

I believe decriminalization of some drugs would save the Australian tax payers billions of dollars on a war on drugs that has never been won, not even for a day hell not even for 10 minutes!. I believe California has it right that a license must be acquired in order to buy from a dispensary but its need to be more open to cultivation. Why not have a similar system hear? open to people 18 or 21 years of age, would you pay for a yearly license that allows you to grow x amount of plants and own x amount of product with the ability to buy cannabis from a dispensary should you not want to or cant grow? hell yea would be the answer! Cannabis should be sold in a packet like cigarettes are with a warning on it maybe some pictures on it too outlining the damage smoking causes not in a zip lock bag out of a jar as they do in California. An Increase to the sentences for dealing drugs apart from dispensary's would effectively kill the black market for cannabis almost overnight(would you rather buy some cash crop shit or name brand dope?). Use the money spent on fighting cannabis toward our health system. Why would any government consider such a legislation? TAX! imagine how much tax revenue the Australian government would make in one year if they allowed it to be sold in a dispensary and put a tax on it or charge a fee to have a license to posses and grow cannabis! We have some of the highest cannabis use rate in the world, it is time we pull ourselves away from American legislation (Du pont have their nylon rope now and and banning dope didnt stop the Mexicans)

i hope someday all this will come true but i thinks its still a gona be a long time until the powers that be relies that the war has failed 80yrs and counting

If any party put forward this as a policy it would get my vote!

Nice replies everyone.

It's true that the Greens are slightly less ignorant in their views on one or two issues , mostly environmental stuff ... and it's also true that the government and their supporters need a dramatic re-think on alot of things (including The Greens) ... drug reform (policy? :D ) being one of those things ...

Let's not forget :

Legislative Assembly passes roadside drug testing laws

Posted Wed Jun 30, 2010 5:00pm AEST

Canberra motorists will be subject to roadside drug tests after the Legislative Assembly passed new laws today.

The Opposition's drug testing bill has passed this morning with the support of the Greens.

Under the new laws Canberra motorists will face random tests for drugs including ecstasy, cannabis and methamphetamine. Opposition police spokesman Jeremy Hanson says the legislation is long overdue.

"Although this has been a difficult process it didn't need to be and we're here today finally," he said.

Chief Minister Jon Stanhope tried to adjourn the debate.

Mr Stanhope told the Assembly the Human Rights Commissioner is worried about the bill's impact.

"A piece of legislation that interacts with human rights raises human rights concerns," he said.

Damn Them All To Hell! ... same-old ignorant backward thinking ... ahem ...

Yeh , I just think people are a little too precious when it comes to 'supporting' The Greens ... 'one of those things is just like the other' ( :haha: ) so vote for whoever you like really ... better yet ... stop voting entirely. :D ... Although I think the 'Australian Sex Party' wants to legalize drugs ... :D ... now if they just support Rock n Roll aswell I might just be persuaded to sign up! :P heheheh

Cheerz All ... and Be Green! :bongon:
