Two South Australian men are facing drugs charges after Horsham traffic police pulled them over at the weekend.

Police say the men in their 40s were driving a rental car when police stopped them on Dooen Road on Sunday.

A search of the car found 40 cannabis cuttings police believe were going to be grafted onto other plants in Victoria.

An interesting twist to guerilla growing, has anyone ever tried grafting cannabis to another plant? -KF

I've read alot about grafing.

It has been successful using other species in the same family as cannabis. Cant remember the names but hops is one of them.

I think if they were going to graft then they would have attatched the 40 cuttings to various sites over a couple of different plants and let them grow along side (say hops?).

Wouldnt be a very profitable venture..

Yeah I really doubt they were for grafting, and if they were going to be grafted they would be grafted onto cannabis.

If there was any advantage to grafting onto other types of plants it would become a mainstream practice. It doesn't matter what you graft it to, it still looks like cannabis. Also no root system is better for cannabis than the one it comes with.

I was just thinking about grafting and cannabis the other day.

The only upside i came to was you could have one plant w/ a few diff strains in it.

which would be pretty nice if your limited on space and want some new flavours

The problem is the short life span of Cannabis plants. The time/space invested to grow the scion stocks to then graft to the root stock would probably be better invested in just 3 to 4 mother plants of 3 to 4 strains. If Cannabis were to be long lived like Citrus or Malus then multiple scion grafts might be functional.
