new digital power meters

Recommended Posts

Nah mate it's just a more efficient and detailed reading of the power usage and has a few benefits in terms of off-peak use etc. Don't worry, they're not installing them to bust growers.

It's like digital watches and analogue watches. Both do the same thing, but one can have a lot more information on the face. :)

For more detail on the subject perhaps look into the relevant power companies website?

Yet to be seen mate.

They can supposedly be read remotely and also switched remotely like when you want connection or disconnection.

And manually read by the household.

Also want to hope your meter board and wiring is up to scratch or expect to have extra installation costs :)

I don't know too much about this, but I don't like it.

Why would they need more information than what power you use per month/quarter?

It doesn't seem to make sense to replace every power meter in the country just because its 'digital'.

thaey now have 4 differnt rates of charging you now just depends what time of day you use power its cheaper power after 8pm

5pm to 8pm is peak time and highest rate.. so its not all the same rate anymore as with the old meters.. and the meter man still comes and reads em to he just takes down the numbers from the 4 differnt time periods thats all

Hey there allhailthebud

There are four types of meters:

dial meters

digital meters

electronic meters (single-phase and three-phase)

and

smart meters.

They all work a little different

check this link out about the different typs of meters.
