drying questions

Try and hang it in a clothes cupboard with plenty of room between them and the doors a little open so the air can circulate, some people do this.... I suppose a temp around 10-15 degrees would be a good starting point.

hey guys.

 

I am so intent on curing for atleast a couple of weeks that I've stocked myself up from other sources while I wait for this to mature. Just a side note- the strength of my buds is very high (based on a small couple of samplers i dried out a week ago). So I have good strain here

Just a bit of a side note about a microwave. They work by heating the water molecules inside things to boiling point, which we all know is 100 C, and since THC can start to deteriorate at around 28 C you are going to get some serious QA issues with the bud not the mention it would be very hard to get a consistently dry product.

Agreed bat, Anyone who dries their pot with a Microwave is a Dick. Paddy has made a promise to us that this will never happen and we trust him, he has learnt a fair bit in a short time on here and we have great confidence in him.

But we are past the microwave question now and into air drying and curing. Laters. Gh72

hey GH - well the good news is that they are smelling great. The unfortunate news is that they are smelling the entire apartment out. It sticks to high heaven of weed everytime I walk in from outside. Ahh well, at least its a good sign.

 

Also - the buds are really starting to dry properly. I feel the edges are drying up, but great to see that the shrinkage is not too bad. A lot of my friends outdoor homegrown ended up losing mass volume when drying. Mine had shrunk, but a fair bit less than I expected. I assume that's because this was flowered through hydro instead of outdoors?

 

It's been about 5 days now since I hung them up, I've kept them in dark/cool conditions and looking forward to curing.

 

Just a quick question - is it possible to overdry it by leaving it out an extra couple of days? At what point would you say that I might be over drying if the plant is now feeling dry'ish to touch?

i like to leave mine for two weeks straight in about 8 to 17 degrees . i leave the whole plant on the stem exept for the large fan leaves. leaving the stem on usures your bud shouldnt over dry as the stem keeps pumping moisture into the centre of the bud. so two weeks drying time till there half snappy then cut all the stem away and remove all the buds. this should be perfectly dry for curing not to crisp but not to wet you want the weed to be gummy when you chop it up and its perfect. when its gummy its ready for cure

 

 

dont stress to much about overdrying as long as you still have the plant on the main stem it shouldnt over dry and if its a bit crisp around the edges dont stress too much as the dry bits soak in the moisture when you JAR EM UP!

 

to cure properly open your bag for 5 minutes everyday and leave it out while you smoke some cones . the stickyness should fuck off after about three months and pure gumminess results . then you have some really killer weed smoke it all to yourself!!!!!

Hey Paddy, nice one man! If your having problems with smell, make one of those boxes up I was telling you about and put it in the bathroom or toilet, wherever you have a fan that vents to the outside at roof height, should take the smell from as you approach your apartment. Chuck an open container of bi-carb on the bench or somewhere to absorb some smell, will not make it dissapear though. Thats just something that may work OK. I do mine and vent it up and out and it just dissappears into the atmosphere, nice. Go for at least another couple of days paddy, if you hung it like we talked about, it should be ready for a branch snap test by then, if it fails try another day or two. Then cut it up whack it in your jars and do that BURPING, then you will be fine. It sounds like it's going to be a killer, best wishes man. GH72
