advice on new setup

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

Looking to do a new setup in a medium sized garden shed.

Cant get to it too often , maybe 2 times a week , so I need something minimal maintainence and self sufficient

previously done flood and drain with expanded clay

works quite well but I have found salt buildup is an issue with this system . but its pretty resilient apart from that.

any suggestions ? verticle height may also be an issue , I would guess about 1.6m is the hight of the shed.

perhaps even soil ?

any help appreciated

shed is your usual colourbond aus shed , has power , no water . size 3x5m approx

my old setup was 1.2x1.2x1.8 tent , flood and drain with expanded clay 900x900 tray , 150mm inline fan , 400w in summer and 1000w in winter

I was thinking of cutting down the hight of the grow tent to 1.6 and running the 400w to keep light down (dont want it noticable if any leakage) . with this setup and 1000w I could pull 10-12 oz of dried , pound if it went really well.

I am more sort of after suggestions for a low maintainence system , for instance COCO instead of clay flood and drain . something with minimal water and maintainence . they kind of have to be set and forget as I cant access the shed all the time

Looks like u wana have ago but this statement is pretty shit man ,

Great ideas , great aim, but man, if u gona use little lights cause u dont wana tape up light leaks u gona fail. If u want buds than need 12/12, when the lights off it has to be completely dark no matter fuckin what wattage light u use.

Sorry but while auto systems n coco require little maintenance the less effort u put in the worse u will go. May i suggest if u need set n forget maybe a bush grow is more for u.

Growin takes, care time n patients. U get out what ya put in.

good luck

took the words out of mi mouth mate, ... though i dont think a bush plot would be the answer

nah i rekon ya on the money with the duct tape :) ...... that or line the entire shed with a timber frame and panda(using screws and card board)

with that size space/height, i rekon aim at perfecting the flood n drain :) ....who knows, ya might become the osa f&d guru

but yeah, at the end of the day it`s gonna come down to you and how much research you`ve done. :P

good luck with whatever you decide,

Me :scratchin:

Personally, I'm with the others, if you can't tend them every day, it's a problem. what happens if your timer spits it or something, you wouldn't know for two days, not too bad in flower but when seeding or cloning, that could stuff them.

It's the attention to detail and the care you give them daily that makes most of these guys grow great weed, if it was as simple as set and forget I would let my dog do a grow. good luck. GH72

At a minimum....

The standard colourbond shed is a great conductor of heat, so, stinking hot when the sun shines and freezing when it doesn't.

Insulate, ventilate, protect from radiant heat (the sun) and you should be right.
