Ok dude, were getting somewhere now =) Run off is WAY too low. Probably have huge nute/salt build up.

1) Flush now, with your lights on, NEVER interrupt the dark cycle even for 10 minutes. Light leaks can take plants a day to recover from. Means smaller buds, bud!

2) Don't repot if you can get away with it for 2-3 weeks. If you do, be very gentle and repot in coco loosely,( you repot garden plants outside, so a little light on the roots won't kill em for 20 seconds), not hammered down solid, I think these plants are capable of so much more under that light, with just the right approach.

3)Just let the pots flush properly with plenty of water watch it gush out the bottom, leave them until they aren't leaking so much and put em back on their raised bits in the tray =) and maybe a day of lights(almost) to dry coco a little then add nutes mix.

4)Test the Ph of your nutes mixed with water, and adjust this if it is not right, coco is a great medium and Ph is not a problem in it usually unless you get build up from salt/nutes, which we think is what you have now.

Let me know how you go dude, I'm going for another. Mmmmm........

sounds a good plan paddy

speculation on my part but if you could measure the runoff from the next plain water flush i believe you would be shocked @ the high EC levels

to have a PH meter is a great luxury and makes your job so much easier and prevents alot of problems

an EC /PPM meter is also a great working tool for growers, then you can tell exactly what concentration goes into the pots and what comes out in runoff,

though if you mix nutes as recommended and flush regular then the EC meter can wait

but the PH meter thats more important now

best with 'em

no 40w lights paddy, its got to be absolute, complete total darkness, like pitch black during dark period of 12 or whatever hours , this is very important

you know outdoors the light of a bright moon is enuf to delay flowering by a few more days, thats how sensitive Cannabis is about light

even worse interuptted night darktime in flowering can result in sexual abnormalities

Thanx Frazz, we need as much input as we can get, maybe I missed something or I'm on the wrong track but i think everyone is on the same page.

Ok, Paddy looks like you know where to start it off now, wanna see some juicey shots of monster heads in the next few weeks =) Let me know if your in trouble. Frazz is right, not the tiniest bit of light in there when it's dark mate.

Happy growing. GH72

No worries then. I have flushed now - given it a good flush in my opinion, first thing in the morning, and now put under light and will leave there the entire day. Thanks for tip of complete darkness - I think I took a couple of liberties every 4th or 5th night by flicking on a small desk lamp in the room and checking out how they're doing...etc... I will say that they definately get 12 hours of complete darkness most nights of the week, but occasionally i've been naughty.

I'm waiting 48 hours before feeding with nutes and hopefully will see some good recovery for the last 2-3 weeks here.

Thanks everyone for your help. At the end of all this, I'll should do a post of important dos and donts i've learnt in my first grow. I feel my second grow would be a lot better, though these plants smell good and buds are certainly accumulating.

By the way - interesting comment about sexual confusion with interrupted light...etc.. I had one male in the mix so i moved it into another room where it gets mixed light at all hours (as obviously i didn't care whether it lived or died). Now it appears as though its male for most of the way, but the top area looks like its growing (female) hairs which now makes sense!!!

Thank again.

Hey Paddy.

You mentioned the window is always open, does this let in any light at all when the lights are off? Any light entering the room during darkness will confuse your plants.

Good on ya for jumpin in and asking questions. Keep doing this and you will be growing like a champ in no time.

Good luck with it,

Naycha :)

Hi Naycha

I have my lights on during the day. At the moment where I am, daybreak is about 6.30am and it's dark by about 6.00pm.

The window is open and natural light is coming into the room when the lights are on. But when I turn the lights on and turn them off, it is complete darkness outside. I have been weary of this as I read about people who had trouble kicking in flowering, only to realise that they plants were getting afternoon and evening daylight through a window after the lights went on. At the moment, there's a bit more than 12 hours of darkness outside and a bit less than 12 hours of daylight and I'm synchronising my lights accordingly.

Hey Paddy, your doing well mate, EVERYONE has problems with their first grow, it is a learning curve, but at least your not a Numb Nut who thinks he knows everything and youv'e got enough sense to ask, you will find people are always willing to teach if your willing to learn.

I spent a year in Holland growing with my mates and playing in a band, and worked in a hydro shop here (but not a shop dickhead) and I STILL need to learn more and all the new stuff that comes out everyday. You want to do your head in check out Plasma lights, it is exactly the same spectrum as the sun, these will be the grow lights of the future as soon as the prices become more reasonable.

You are definately doing the right thing now mate just keep pluggin away and if we can help, I'm sure someone will be around to help out. Have a great day dude. GH72

Thanks grasshopper.

To be honest, I have always approached growing with an "I have no real idea, please help" approach. I went to a hydro store and the guy there was really helpful and not bigheaded or an idiot. He gave me solid advice and took the time to answer a lot of questions.

the journey has been interesting and keeping conditions good and your plants nice and healthy seemed to be a more tricky than I first imagined, but found learning the ins and out and dos and donts very interesting. I have more confidence in doing my second grow now, though I might wait a while. I've been growing in an apartment and as you'd imagine, having lights on all the time for three months becomes a bit of a hassle.

I have a theoretical question for you though. Not sure if you'll know, but what would happen if you grew a plant outdoors through summer for a couple of months or so, then bring inside and flowered under lights for 4 weeks?

The lights were very effective for veg'ing, but I was wondering if there would be any problem veging outdoors and flowering indoors?

Cheers
