buds with seeds

hey all.

a friend of mine brought some buds back from a mate of hers that grows.. i grabbed a q from her and i have to say it was definately amongst the best bud ive ever smoked.. i was just starting to chop some up and was thinking id love to grow this shit when i noticed a seed. i ended up grabbing another q as i loved it and low and behold i now seven or eight seeds in total.

 

now it was definately female bud, very solid dusty buds like little mull rocks... so my questions are 1. how do seeds appear in female buds??? i always though it was just the males and hermes that had seeds.

 

secondly, what are the chances of getting female plants from those seeds as all have sprouted which surprised me straight off.. i figured that they would be non viable seeds but the buggers have sprouted much to my delight..

 

so is it the same as regular seeds, a 50 50 chance of male or female or are they more likely to be 1 particular sex or hermes??

 

as long as i get 1 lady i`ll be happy..cant wait to have plenty of those awsome buds.. i`ll try and find out what strain it is and put it in the strain guide..i doubt any1 would be unhappy with this strain, not 1 for the novice bonger, has a chronic head stone, could easily make you a couch potato if your not carefull..

Honestly your best bet would be to ask your friend to ask his mate then you know for sure.....

 

But to try and answer your questions... 1) For something to produce seeds it must either be female or herm.. Males only produce male flowers that produce the pollon that pollinates the females and thus produces seeds. Males dont actually produce seeds themselves..

 

For YOUR buds to have seeds they muse either be 1)herm or 2) females that were pollinated by a male (or manually from collected pollen)... IF they are herm you might be able to see small yellow male flowers growing in clusters on your heads... but not necessarily...

 

And just so you know you can get really nice buds from a herm plant, as long as it doesnt produce male flowers untill the end of the flower cycle it should be fine and your bound to find a few viable seeds if this is the case....

 

Look up "feminised" seeds,, they are basically all hermy seeds but still can produce really nice grows..

 

Honestly to know exactly what seeds you have you should ask your friend they could end up hermy female or male who knows..

Hey bbud 666, I have a Hermi going at the moment, started all female and then later in the grow chucked out a few flowers and pollinated some buds producing seed but not all, probably only 10-15%, I will keep these seeds and when I germinate them I will soak them in hormones(same as how they feminize seeds) and will give a much better chance of being females, also leaving the plant in total darkness for 24-48hrs after the grow cycle before changing to 12/12 flower cycle will promote females too. Best of Luck, and if you get a Hermi, don't panic, just more good seeds for next time, but make sure you cull all males. TTFN.

Your bagseeds will be fine, very good chance of being a female, especially coming from a great nug.

Dont mess with the roots at all (if you stress the root system out, the plant thinks its gonna die and pollinates itself), and if its mainly female and turns hermie, you can go around and pick them off.

hey all, cheers for the replies, very helpfull and as usual much appreciated.

 

the person my mate got the buds from lives interstate so the likelyhood of getting a clone isnt good at all and ive never met the person so i wouldnt even ask as i wouldnt for some1 i didnt know.. i dont care if a friend knows you, if i dont then i aint doin it and i would be unhappy with my friend for telling you anything in the first place so, hopefully i get at least 1 girl or at very least a hermie so i can get more seeds and try again...

 

ill let you all know how it goes..
