When to harvest? (pics inside)

Hi guys this is some one who isn't me`s first outdoor grow, its a hermie from bag seed. All the pistils have turned brown, the trichomes are still clear and the leaves are starting to turn yellow and are receding and look to be dying off, some of the seed sacks are starting to open.

Judging by the pics what do you guys think is it ready to harvest or give it a bit longer?

here in nimbin the moon is in the First Quarter Phase

not good for harvesting

The moon is still waxing (growing bigger) in this phase, and the sap is still flowing!

 

a great phase for starting things off and even better for planting, grafting and transplanting

and it’s still okay to feed if you need.

next harvest moon is 28th

1 to 2wks at max

the last quater is irey for harvest too

she looks a bit late

she may wanna go to the next new moon

for max THC content

wait till 50% of the crystalz turn amber

What radic said. It could also be frost burn if there have been some cold nights with frost.

I couldn't get any of those imageshack photo's to load completely so could only see a few of the tops

I noticed you said they were Hermies and I guess they have self seeded as you've said some of the 'seed sacks' are opening ... Those seeds probably won't have much value as will most likely turn out as hermies aswell. But the seeds are another way to get a good idea when to harvest If the seeds are dark and ripe and almost falling out of their 'sacks' then it will be pretty close to maturity , generally the bud will start to die off bit by bit once the seeds are matured so if one WAS harvesting for seeds they might let it mature all the way to that point , if the seeds are not wanted then you would obviously not let the plant start to die off before picking ... But it is much easier to remove mature seeds from the budz once they dry than it is trying to pick out a shitload of immature seeds

In unseeded bud the calyx pods will swell right up near to the end , similar ting happens with seeded plants except It's the seed that's swelling over the last couple of weeks.

 

I remember trying to go by the full moon and other strategies and sometimes it was all good

But I tend to think these days that they are 'ready when they are ready' ... The harvest moon is indeed coming up but also , around these areas particularly , this is the rainy season and many have to worry about the rain and potential mouldy bits ... I know myself that if it looks like rain for the next couple of weeks and ya get 2 Clear Sunny days in a row inbetween I would rather pick early on the sunny days than risk having to pick in the middle of constant rain (within reason ofc , i'd never pick a month early or anything like that ) There can also be many other considerations that may warrant picking early such as frosts , risk of theft or having to go on holidays etc etc.

 

On that too ... It's often said that picking in the middle (hottest part) of a sunny day is good practice as that is when the budz and trichomes are swelled to their maximum Not sure exactly how much diference this makes though

There are countless other threads on the Topic in the 'Harvesting' section no doubt ... and one that I can't seem to find right now (that should also be pinned imho) that had some awesome close-up pictures of the same sorta thing as the above 2 Links (if anyone remembers ... plz post it)

 

Well , that should get ya started ... I think it may be a little trickier with a seeded hermie from my experience but good luck with the harvest anyway , certainly looks to be some very smokable bits there
