More than 100 dope plants found in national park

Recommended Posts

Care to substantiate that hyperbole scientifically?

I can cite science papers with specific studies on threatened species (as per the IUCN/EPBC) and which were instrumental in establishing National Parks. Without and we would lose, as we have historically lost, vast and integrated ecosystems in this country. Australia already has a shameful record of extinction of marsupial species in the small to intermediate size (35 g to 5500 g), not to mention a scandalous record of land clearance and disturbance i.e, 70% of forests cleared, including almost all the Mallee gone, and the massive loss of native grasslands too. If you've traveled across the country, as I have, you would see the impact and how it has left extensive tracts of the country in a pauperate condition which has enabled noxious and feral species invasion. National Parks are on the front line to preserving out nation’s biodiversity.

Growing Cannabis in sensitive ecosystems, as found in National Parks, can cause serious impact. Almost all Australian natives are phosphorus (P) sensitive, as they employ symbiotic mycorrhizal relationships to survive in typically P deficient Australian soils. Yet to beef up bud’age the use of P will be hundreds of times what the natural levels are resulting in the death of native flora. That’s just one impact. If the P leaches to a creek it will lead to algal outbreaks depriving all aquatic biota of oxygen, which can result in localised extinctions. If there are enough localised extinctions you lose a species if they fall below a recruitment threshold. Mull growers have been known to divert water, clear scrub, excavate soils and in import soils or additives which can inadvertently carry pathogens and weed seeds to an environment that hasn’t the means to protect itself from such invaders. Some may argue a significant number of Cannabis plantings are small scale and scattered; yet it’s the sum of the impacts that are of issue and not the individual impacts. This is not ‘fairyland’, this is science.

torana2000, you're obviously a retarded bogan incapable of an intelligent retort. As for why I'm here, I'm here as a grower. I have a current thread on a grow in the grow diary forums. I should ask you why you're here, when you're the epitome of the illiterate school drop-out giving Cannabis a bad image.

Agreed.

I'd also like to see Cannabis (hemp) for particle board building products and paper.

it also makes a better and stronger product than carbon fibre lighter weight and stronger, years ago a car manufactur even made a car body out of it as a one off experiment....

but to be able to suppley the raw fibre when it does get to that stage will take a fair bit of land to be used, maybe some that even borders on our presious national parks to...

I don't object at all to people growing outside. I used to grow outside in the last 1980's. What I do object to is people growing on biologically/culturally significant sites, aka National Parks. There's ample disturbed land they can use instead, such as farms, industrial sites and urban areas. What's important to help change the negative perspective of the press is responsible cultivation practices.

You admit to being a troll.

People can have any hair style they please as long as it doesn't present a hazard in OH&S. Being a bogan is not about a hair style, it's about being obtuse and then being proud of it. Sad indeed. As for education, you could do with one as you follow the bumper bar sticker mentality. And no, I don't work at maccas. About as close to a mind dulling menial job I get is trimming lb'age.
