First grow - Needs advice

Recommended Posts

Hey guys

My mate started this on the 1st of feb, started vegging on the 14th, and had been growing since.

http://i46.tinypic.com/mwun11.jpg

600W HPS

Coco coir (washed)

Canna Vegga A & B nutrients

No ph, PPM meter

Temps probably too high (30 on top, 25 top of coco)

Not "enclosed" space.

3 Fans going(without which it would be a sauna).

He topped it way to early, which he now knows stunts vertical growth very badly.

Being frustrated by losing some little ones and still not knowing if its female, he decided to top it again, and let it grow...

You can see by earler photos how she is layed out more or less. Topped into 2 (4 main), Topped all 4 (16 main), but now it has over 20 tops plus the 2 top sites.

As you can see, he tryed his luck with cloning, results are a different story, but I think he really has a thing for all this :yahoo:

Measuring:

35cm tall

66cm wide

He still has it on 20/4 (9 weeks approx vegging), and is planning to change to 12/12 on the 26th.

The story could change though because recently growth is exploding, he has kept a little book with notes from the start because the first is always one to remember.

IN POSSESSION: (will be used for flowering)

1.2x1.2x2m tent

cooltube

ventilation

ph pen

ppm pen

400wMH for next veg

Now, He started knowing nothing at all at the start of the year, and has read plently of pages from all different places, but is wanting some "plant specific" advice from the "old school tree hugers".

What is the problem with the red stem? Is that a ph or heat issue?

How big should he let this plant get in veg state to maximize yeild and get the most out of the 600wHPS during flowering? (Didnt expect to be left with 1)

Will 400wMH be better for vegging then a 600wHPS?

How is she looking in general? Keep in mind, she has had a rough life, suffered heat over 35 for 4 days :peace:

Thanks for reading, my mate is looking forward to any advice anyone has.

Hi treehugr - things look sweet :)

As Frazz says temps is most usual cause & not a major problem. My outdoor plants have started 'bronzing up' & got a blue hazy look - This time of year low temps tend cause overnight and day temps to touch a threshold of about 10 deg cel

the rest is up to the plant to handle it.

Good to have you as a poster here at OS treehugr :)

:)

Nitty.

At the moment all the attention is going to the big mummy, while 2 others are flowering along side.

You can see the 600wHPS was getting wayyy to close, even with the cooltube :)

Still looking nice though :)

The other 2 are badly stretched and have issues..

That is the tallest of the 2, both have had the same treatment (bending top)

The leaves are curling downwards... This all seems to be since i got a digital PH meter (go figure) and balanced feeds to 5.5-5.8. Using coco coir (washed) and clay rocks 60/40

I flushed with PH balanced water after curling stayed the same for a couple of days (eliminating moisture stress)

Using Nulife coco nutes at around 1200ppm and just started seasol.

Any suggestions? Im at about 3 & half weeks flower.
