Phillips Ecotone Cool Daylight, High Lumen?

Recommended Posts

Im looking at 4 Phillips Ecotone Cool Daylight, High Lumen twister with built in fans 65w CFL's (degeres kelvin 2700-6500, colour index reading 65, light output 5500). Would this be enough for a 6-12 seeds throughout veg. I plan to grow 4-6 in my grow tent. I have a 600w growlush HPS but am thinking ill use that to flower and use the CFL's to veg (less power consumption). Ive got a recurculating hydro setup ready to go. I read so many confliction ideas, can i have some of your opinions???

It would certainly be enough for seed germ and early veg mate. Prolly ok over a bonsai mother or clones, or to supplement your 600 watter in the flower rm. lol

Early veg.... would it be enough for the whole veg? Or would it be better to use the 600hps for the whole veg and flower?

The HPS is going to give you a much better result used from go to woah, of course.

I do like the inclusion of fans into the base here. Neat. At 5500 lumens, though (which seems about right for a good 65w bulb) this is probably good for about a square foot of grow area. For veg, you'd be pushing it with a 50cm x 30cm space and this bulb. So I reckon you'd need multiples. I'm not against cfls to get around temp issues, etc - I have 3 x 125w cfls running for a 5 square foot space (for veg - I can toggle this way between circa 40k and 60k lumens) at the moment.

If color temp is the issue, get a retro MH bulb for your HPS for veg.

As mullaway mentions, looks good for a bonsai mum though.

I'm against cfl's...HPS all the way through from seedling stage imo - way better results

Jimbo lol

I like using CFLs for the first week from seed. Gets them used to light and so on then whack in the HPS nice and high, slowly lowering.

You gotta look at it this way.

cfl = less power per day / more days of veg for same results

hps/MH = more power per day / less days of veg for same results

To me time is money as well, so subsequently if i can get the grow through in a week less than i would using CFLs i would then get an extra grow every few years... This would pay for the extra cost (which is minimal coz u get such quick growth)

Thanks..... Thats what im thinking. I want cheaper costs with out effecting my yeild too much. So if i use the cfl's for the first week or two after the seeds have sprouted, this shouldnt effect my quality?
