How much nutrients for seedlings in coco?

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone.

I am growing 5 seedlings under fluero in coco.

They have sprouted above the soil for 5 days now, so 5 days old...

Does the coco have any nutrients in it?

When do they need nutrients?

What strength nutrients should I use? I use Dutch Master gold.

On a second note if anyone can be bothered going to the dutch master website, and looking at the nutrient calculator:

http://www.dutchmaster.com.au/nutrient_cal...anguage=english

When is week 1? I can't figure out how big (after it has sprouted in the coco) it needs to be to be counted for week 1, when I can go to that level of nutrients.

Week one is the first week of your seedlings life and the calculator lets you generate nute info for up to 7wks of grow time.

Then in Wk 8 the flower period starts and you use your flower nutes.

Be wary of these online nute calculators though, they are often way too strong - something many of us has experienced

Your coco doesn't have any nutes in it so after the first week you should start adding nutes at a weak rate - somewhere around 0.4 - 0.6EC, when they start to grow then you can slowly increase the nute strength

week 1 of grow starts when plant has 3 sets of true leaves or so,ive tried dm gold nutes, additives and calender and got pretty good results but make sure you flush about once aweek hope that helps....

How far away to you have the globe from them when you first put them in, and also what wattage have you used? Cause I have a 1000w. Its about a meter or so away at the moment and has been fine. I have the temperature totally under control in there. I may put it around 80cm away tomorrow.

Are you starting your seeds straight in the coco from germination or do you plan to transfer for soil when they have a little size? im about to start with the coco also (Theres not a whole lot of info on it so i kind of feel in the dark atm) Also are you mixing anything in with the coco???? Use 1/4 strength nutes for a week then 1/2 for another week then 3/4 then full and flush them weekly and/or every third watering. Try and let the medium dry every few days too but dont leave it dry.

Is that from the 1st week that has 3 sets of leaves or from the first week of seedling emerging

when ever you use a soil ect with no nutrients you need to add them right away , so go like ecg of 10,000 and build up as the plant needs it , within 1 week bring it up to full strength , i fertalize every time i water during growth stage = huge plants, all depends on transperation , you dont want to fertalize a plant that isnt using it you will kill it fast , you best key to fertalizing is colour of the leaves .
