Yates Natrasoap for Spider Mites?

Recommended Posts

The girls are entering their 6th week of flowering and whilst the buds look ok the plants are looking a bit ragged.

Last night I thought I saw a tiny web on the very top of the plant. I touched it and there was like a silky strand stuck to my finger tip.

There seem to be very tiny brown critters running about on the underside of the fan leaves but not many at this stage.

They are on some buds too.

I have read plenty on spider mites here and elsewhere on the web. But even with a magnifying glass my eyes are struggling to see the mites.

Since this is an emergency I’m trying Yates Natrasoap. (biodegradable and non residual) and no withholding period.

They claim it kills spider bugs.

I’m hoping to save my buds.

Has anyone had success with this product? Or any advice on using it close to harvest?

The label says ‘low toxic for you and your garden.' :D lol

Thanks gills and everest.

I know billo had terrible trouble with spider mites a while back and this caused me to panic.

I called them spider bugs above and I think that's because I was flustered. lol

I have blasted them with the Yates stuff and I was thinking of Confidor (very low toxicity) just to slow them down a bit.

However I'll give the water a go now.

I don't need a crop failure with this lot.

I use it sometimes Rocker, even indoors.

Have had 2 goes at red mites outdoor this year with natrasoap. It slows them down, but they return.

Could be better outdoor to let the natural predators build up. Soap prolly kills every bug it touches.

Too strong and it burns leaves. Also just right it still has a white trace left on the leaves.

6 weeks in might be better to kill them with a lighter now mate.. Best of luck

JFTR Confidor is neither low toxicity (21 day withholding period on stone fruit and not listed for strawberries) or much good at stopping spidermites.

I wash mine down in late flower with plain water, it removes as many mites as it drowns. If they get to the stage of spinning webs over your buds you can remove these with the gentle application of a vacuum cleaner, the low power portable ones work a treat. Just careful not to suck up your buds when you are sucking off the webs.
