SOG Pots.

Recommended Posts

So... I'm hand watering and want to do a SOG in a 1.2x1.2x2m tent.

I have a heap of little 100mm pots, but i think they are going to be a little small for the roots...

The next size of pots i have would only fit 16-25 max which is just not enough...

So, this morning, pondering on how i can get a heap of the correct sized pots without paying an arm and a leg, i remembered the Disposable Food Packaging joint next door.

He just so happened to have some small black food tubs he wanted to get rid of with no lids (which you buy seperate in any case). They are 10-20% larger than my 100mm pots so hopefully it will give the girls just enough room for the roots to make it through flower. Got about 60 for $7 i think.

So... i'm drilling holes in the bottom for drainage and i'm considering trays or some such to sit under the pots to catch any run-off.. and i had another brainwave... the next size up would provide a great run-off reservoir to sit underneath! So off i marched and got 60 or so of the next size up.

Anyway, this is what i've got so far... any opinions? Big enough for a sog? Going to run 50/50 coco perlite at this stage, maybe more like 40/60...

should just be big enough if you use just rooted clones and put them straight into 12/12.

It's going to be interesting handling that many pots (just thinking when it comes time to empty the catch ones it is going to get tedious), especially once they get going and fill out a bit.

Still, your thinking outside the box which is a good start, now just apply some lateral thinking and sort out a method for handling that many pots without rooting your back).

Sweet as :-) rooted clones straight into 12/12 is the plan... i think i'l put 12 or so pots in/on a tray or something so i can handle them in small groups perhaps.

Cheers THC :)

I have the same size tent and i grow sog as well and i can just squeeze 6 x 6 rows of 200mm pots this gives plenty of root space, i've tried 150mm pots but the clones don't grow as big as in the 200mm pots. This does get quite cramped and hard to maintain at imes though.
