How do you guys flush at the end of your grow? I read 2 weeks straight water is best, but how do I know when to start the 2 weeks if i dont know how long the strain takes?? do i start when the trichromes go milky or still clear??

also I brought this stuff thats a flush, that is you add it a couple of days before the harvest and it apparently gives it a flavor in my case strawberry, but it takes ALL the nutrients out of the plant, anyone give me feedback on these flushes??

One to two weeks before harvesting is the usual time to begin to flush a hydro grow. Look up the strain you are growing on one of the seed indexes you can get an idea of how long you should be flowering for, the average is approx 8-10 weeks. However it also depends on the type of high you want to achieve. Harvesting early (when all the trichromes are clear) usually produces a heady high and harvesting late (when the trichromes are cloudy) usually produces a "couchlock" high.

The reason to flush with plain water is to force your plants to use all the stored nutrients, ie. removing all the nutrients from the plant. Without flushing and leaving nutrients in the plant when you harvest can often produce a harsh smoke (not the only reason for harsh smoke though) and gives some ppl headaches, tis why some people say they can tell hydro grown buds.

I've no idea what sort of flush you've bought but I've read elsewhere that plants don't take up flavours through their roots, having said that I've heard of some mixtures that ppl use that can make a difference to the finished product usually using a citric acid base.

What if I dont know the strain and I would like to harvest just as the trichromes turn amber. Like do I start the flush as they go cloudy or still when clear??

Yeah myself included, I never smoked hydro after buying an Oz and the whole Oz gave me headaces, the stuff i smoke now is flushed properly by the grower, and i havent had a headace for months.

I cant even remember the name of it now, but they had pina colada, strawberry, orange and plain.

Im sceptical but will use it as Ive brought it, Ive also smoked the buds from the mother plant before and should notice the difference if there is any.

I've read that an easy way to tell when a plant is to be flushed is when about 50% of the hairs have turned brown/red. Start flushing from there and roughly about 2-2 1/2 weeks later it should be ready to harvest.

The way I do it, I also give the plants 48hrs darkness with only the fans running prior to harvest, I've found that this smooths the smoke nicely.

I go to a lot of trouble to make sure the chemicals are flushed from my mj, I'm not about to put another one in just to change the taste, artificial strawberry tastes like crap anyway. If you are going to use it then I would try it on one or two plants this time and if you like the flavour then use it on the full crop next year.

What is the flush stuff?? you used weekprik? seems wierd to use something to flush the nutes out when h20 is the best. I have stopped using chemicals and gone to using organic fertilizers, and stopped using a hydro setup and gone to using organic soli(hand watered). The plants are healthier and i have had no bug problems. Nowdays you just don't know the shite that is put into nutes and then we all end up smoking it. I have heard of a DNA additive to make buds really huge BUT what the fuck is it doing to our bodies??? all the shite on the market scares me big time... you can't tell if you are stoned on the smoke or on the chemicals...all good today but what about in a good few years?

not having a go at anybody, or how they grow, just think about the chemicals, they gotta go somewhere.

natural is better and a good smoke doesn't need flavour.....

Flush with distilled water, not the stuff out of the tap. That contains clorine, flourine and numerous other trace elements.

Flush the instand you see your trichomes becoming milky. Not glassy, but milky.

Then allow your plants to finish off their cycle on distilled water, and once cured you will have the sweetest buds with less coughing.

Flushing should be done on a weekly basis when you do your water change. Dump old nutrient and refill with clean water, ph it to correct level and run through system for 15 mins. Dump this water and refill with clean water again. Add nutrient

This practice is a very good way to avoid problems in your grow.

On approx the end of week eight or nine, check to see if fruit is ripe by looking under a 40X loop, the mushroom like heads on the fruit should be full, with about 50% turning amber waxie colour. This is the only way to see if the fruit is ready.

If you wait a little longer (1 week) you will notice more of the mushroom like heads turning amber.

The more that turn amber the more the fruit will give body effects and not true head effects.

Harvest time is here, how do I finish all my hard work? ----->

1) Dump nutrient and flush for 15mins with clean ph correct water, than dump that water.

2)Refill with clean water ph it to 5.6 then add Ozi-tonic until water CF is 2.8.

3)Water using only ozi tonic for two days.

4)Harvest the following day.

That's it ----> you will notice if you do this way you will get two very desirable results. 1) The fuit will be really frosty 2) You will get a really sweet taste when using fruit, with no harsh chemical taste.

PS: - a proper cure has to take place after this (a long process 60 days) after which your fruit will taste like a mars bar.
