2700 plants found in house south of Brisbane

Police say they have discovered 2,700 marijuana plants in a raid on a house south of Brisbane this morning.

 

The seedlings and mature plants were allegedly grown both inside and outside the Lincoln Street house at Park Ridge.

 

A 41-year-old man will appear in court this afternoon charged with production of dangerous drugs, possession of cannabis and utensils.

 

A 37-year-old woman's been given a notice to appear for possession of dangerous drugs.

Drug arrest, Park Ridge: A 41-year-old man will appear this afternoon in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court following the location of a large amount of marijuana plants this morning. Detectives from the State Crime Operations Command State Drug Investigation Group with the assistance from South Eastern Police Region (specialist services) and Operations Support Command this morning executed a search warrant on a Lincoln Street, Park Ridge address and allegedly located 2700 plants (1500 seedlings and 1200 mature plants). It is alleged the plants were being grown inside a residential address and in the outdoor area of the same address. The man was charged with production of dangerous drugs (exceed schedule), possession of cannabis (dry material) and possession of utensils. A 37-year-old woman was also issued a notice to appear for possession of dangerous drugs.

this was covered on channel 9 news(brisbane) the day of the bust, the female allowed the reporters to come in and film while they were removing evidence, she said that they were growing so they could purchase the house they'd been renting for a few years...

 

risky way to get ahead in life but, rough times....

Significant illegal incomes are usually money laundered, and that's a whole legal pitfall in itself. It's doubtful they'd have managed that to buy a house, esp. when they failed on the basics i.e., they grew outside which bought attention to a significant indoor operation (which ran sweet for the years they rented). All undone by idiocy driven by greed. Her speaking to the reporters was just plan stupid. It could easily lead to an audit by the ATO and they'll sweep up what the forfeiture laws don't! :)
