is it better to remove leafs in flower

here is a qeustion that i am sure to get diffrent answers to.but is it better to remove most of the big leaves while flowering to get more lights on the plant?i have heard that removing the big leaves is good while flowering and i have also heard that the leaves act like a solar panel and are better left alone.so can some one let me know which is better and why

growing outdoors i have found tested and proven . That leaving big or (shade leaves ) on the plant is necessary to the branch growing from it . but only until it starts to yellow . which is normally when the new leaves around your tips or buds . start the photo synthesis cycle and take over . now you can pull the yellowing leaf off . as it is no longer giving to the plant but taking from it . as it is stopping the light getting to the new growth leaves . a simple way to test this is to remove one big leaf and leave its opposite then watch the growth coming from that part of the plant . good luck .
