South Australian election March

Recommended Posts

In VIC it is compulsory to vote in local elections so when I HAVE to vote I just void my vote as ALL of the parties suck IMVHO.

These politically minded folks most always succumb to the power that comes with these tax payer jobs.

I like really small government that is only required to manage essential services like emergency services.

Firm believer here that if u dont vote your are giving up your say. If ya dont vote u dont have the right to complain about how the country is run no matter how much u dont like the people running or think ur vote wont matter.

Well the SA election is done and dusted and the Rann government remains, albeit with a very reduced majority. As always I was hoping for some miracle to occur and for a party like the greens to take power but that is just not something that is likely to happen in this state, every sadly :) But at least we can now look to the positives. Number 1 positive is that the liberals didn't get in, that would have been an even worse situation than what we have just endured. Second positive is that the government very nearly lost and now has a reduced majority which would have scared the shit out of them, hopefully making them a little less arrogant. And most positive of all, Michael Aktinson, the biggest single prick in SA politics is resigning as Attorney General and moving to the back bench. This is significant as he is the man responsible for such draconian legislation as the "Serious and organised crime control bill" and the "Hydroponic industry control bill" So with Aktinson gone, maybe, just maybe things will let up a little in SA, or at least not get any worse :)

Michael Atkinson Resigns As South Australian Attorney General

By Nick Broughall on March 22, 2010 at 9:55 AM

All those gamers hoping to see the introduction of an R18+ rating introduced in Australia, one of the biggest hurdles may have been overcome with Adelaide Now reporting that South Australian Attorney General Michael Atkinson has decided to retire from the front bench of parliament, despite comfortably holding his seat of Croydon over the weekend.

Atkinson says that the motivation for his decision is to see some talented Labor back-benchers blooded before the next election in 2014. Also playing a part was a desire to spend more time with his family.

The fact that Atkinson is stepping down as AG (he’ll remain in parliament until the next election) could potentially smooth over the speedhumps on the road to an adult classification for games. Atkinson has always been a vocal opponent to the rating, and considering that the law requires agreement from all the Attorneys-General to change, the prospect has looked grim for mature gaming, despite massive public support.

There’s no word yet on who will replace Atkinson, although there’s some debate as to whether or not the adult games classification will even be discussed at the next Standing Committee of Attorneys-General meeting in April. Even if it is on the cards, and even if the new South Australian AG is supportive of an adult gaming classification, it doesn’t mean the rating is certain – Atkinson has always argued that he’s not the only AG opposed to the classification. I guess now we’ll find out just how truthful he was.

It's my understanding that 'Family First' were behind the push to change the drug laws in SA :o .

This is a big problem as FF are a church based political party ;) .

These bible bashers ;) seem to have the idea that the world should live by their standards, where I have the idea they should live by mine, ie piss off and mind your own business :( .

There needs to be more info on who these political parties are backed by. We know Labor=workers Liberal=business FF=?? answer the church, which is a joke. There needs to be a clear line between church and state. Religion may have its place somewhere but not in politics.

These pricks come knocking on my door to tell me about their wonderful god and that I should vote for them. God put a natural product on this earth which I use for pain and they want to stop me by using their political clout :) .

Piss off and leave me alone. I ain't selling to your kids nor anybody else for that matter and some bible basher has the say to prohibit me from my medication. PISS OFF. I say clean up your own backyard and when it is spotless and cleaned to my standards, not yours, then we will talk.

TALK, not standover tactics like 'we'll support the govt policy but only if you change this law and that one too.... lol '. I know :) lets make religion illegal. No more wars that way :D

NO MORE RELIGION IN POLITICS. Shit if there was a God we would all live in peace and have no need for politicians anyway.

The meaning of the word Politics= Poli means many and Tics are blood sucking insects. Now add Bible bashers to the mix, this is a joke.

We the people need to know so then we can make an informed choice at the poll :) . It is my belief that we all want to put our own families first :) , but not for the church, for ourselves. They use this idea to their advantage and this is dirty politics. :(
