mold/bud rot ?

Recommended Posts

ok,

so my new indoor in a 3m grow tent has all gone moldy.

have been quite busy the last week havnt had much time to check on them, went to have a look at them yesterday n noticed mold growing in the biggest buds.

i ripped all the plants and have thrown away all the moldy buds and salvaged what i could.

i am wondering what may of caused this ? i know it is strain dependant. the strain was skunk 1. feminised seeds.

would too high humidity cause this ??

hey.

lost probably 3/4lb. left me with just under 2lb of good smoke - no sign of mold.

they were 95% of the way through flowering.

Humidity was extremly high in there, alot higher then any of my previous grows.

did have small fans but obviously not enough to stop the mold.

all i can say is in a way its no loss to me at all - only knowledge and experiance gained. You can only learn from your mistakes and ive made a fair few of them now.

it was in a 3m l x 1.5m w x 2m tall grow tent. The original idea was just to grow the skunk 1 seeds to get clones. then decided to send them into flower after id taken shitloads of clones.

does strain really make a difference on the mold situation ?? i

interesting Q

a characteristic of sativa strains is the open, airy structure of their flower formation

perhaps the reason for this is because they naturally grow in the tropical rainforests around the equator

where the humidity is always very high and it rains every day

by comparison indica strains characteristically construct dense, tight flower formations

so tight and encrusted in resin which further reduces water evaporation from the bud,

but indicas are not naturally found in high humidity rainforests either

perhaps because they would always have moldy flowers and the strain would quickly die out

only needs tiny patch of mould to grow

then the mold spores are so light they are carried on the air to the neighbouring plant

:peace:
