Indoor to Outdoor Transplanting Tips

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

I currently have 9 Sativas all about two foot talk that I am going to be putting in the ground very soon. As I am taking them from indoor to outdoor I was wondering if anyone knew any tips to limit transplant shock and help my plants adjust from the move.

I know that if I move them from 18 hours of sunlight outside to 14 hours they will start to flower but that doesnt really bother me as all my indicas outside have started to flower already. These plants will be planted in a position of maximum sunlight in deep holes with a mixture of premium potting mix and water crystals >:(

So what is the best strategy to limit transplant shock?....lots of water?... leaving them in darkness for 24 hours before planting?...any advice or experiences anyone can add would be appreciated....I want my girls as healthy as possible for maxiumum beautiful buds!!!!

Thanks guys....stay stealthy :peace:

hey mate, when im hardening clones to outdoor the first thing i do is soften the light.....keep it on the same light hours but further away....i do that for a couple days b4 putting them outside in a sheltered semi shaded area during the day and then bring them in as the sun starts to drop behind the hills......the problem here is it increases the chance of bringing pests back into the main grow so i use a couple 18w cfl`s to keep em lit at the same hours of the mother room.

i continue this process for about a week and then start putting the clones into direct sun for the day......repeat that for maybe three days and then just leave em outside.

some clones still try to bloom but if fed with plenty of nitrogen based nutes they`ll revert back to veg ^_^

this is the process i use for veg obviously but have chucked some out for bloom.........if ya want em to bloom straight away just chuck em outside in a sheltered area and leave em outside....then after a week just whack em in thier final homes >:(

also.....checkout the 'marijuana botany' thread ... the hardening off section lol

Hope that helps :peace:

i always ensure plant is well fed and watered the 24 hrs prior to transplant day and then only transplant on sundown, allowing plant overnite to recover from initial shock whilst plant is in a period of relatively low activity

if daytime temps get above 30 C it may pay to use a patch of shadecloth directly above the top of plant for first 2-3 days after transplant

and what chron said to prepare plants for the move makes it so much smoother transition for the plant

all the best

:peace:
