drug driving test, how long?

I all I just read: Driver Drug Tests-Your PERSONAL experiences?

 

I skim read so I don't know if i missed anything, so sorry if im asking what has already been dealth with

 

If one is an weekend smoker how long will it take before you can safely drive without getting a reading?

 

I'm from SA and the SA police website says that the test will only result in a positive if you have smoked in the last few hours but could last longer depending on metabolism, use, etc.

 

If marijuana stays in your system for up to 30 days is there any chance one can still get caught, even though they are abiding by the rules? Is there any way you can prove you smoked 2 days ago?

 

There is no way my friend can get caught due to his job and asked me to ask here.

It depends on the test used. As far as I know the one used for driver testing by the police will detect if you have had it in the last 4-5 hours. If it's an employers drug test though alot use urine testing which can test positive even if you haven't had any for a few days or sometimes longer if you use alot. Reading over the thread you mentioned again, rather than just skimming over it may be a good idea

My best mate and I smoked Wednesday night/early Thursday morning. He was pulled up and tested by the cops at about 3pm this afternoon and he was clear.

 

So I think what MongyMan said about 4-5 hours could quite possibly be correct

i got put on one of these tests a couple of years back, id just smoked prolly around a dozen cones maybe 15 mins before i done the test and i passed, they wernt happy but i was, it was one of them spit tests were u rub the little stick around the inside of your mouth.Someone also told me u can pass these tests by squirting some vinegar in ur mouth but im not sure how true that is

i forgot to add i once failed a piss test, when i hadnt had a smoke in about 4 months, how do u work that out?

i had to do the piss test once a week for 3months as part of a parole condition ..... failed every fuckn one and they didnt do shiiiiiit

 

mind you....i dont think i would play it like that these days

So 4 hours seems to be the general rule, but is this the same everywhere? Each state that is performing these tests, are they all using the same device? If not what is the recomeneded time fram for each?
