What happens after harvest?

Recommended Posts

If you're growing outdoors, I don't see a lot of point in re-vegging. Stunted plants, cold, bugs, snails. Almost impossible to keep them alive unless you are in Queensland.

I'm in Vic, well out of Melbourne and it's just too bloody cold for chopped down plants to survive. Remember that harvesting removes most of the leaves and the plant needs leaves to be able to photosynthesize.

My personal approach is to grow sustainably. Leave one or two males in to pollinate the fems; then I'm guaranteed a supply of seed for next year. Start afresh each spring.

As far as harvesting, cut off the buds as they ripen. This has a lot of benefits - more sun to the lower buds; you can be drying and curing some smoke while the rest are still growing. Try not to cut off any fan leaves, it helps the plants survive to leave them on.

I've kept plants going almost until the end of May, still producing small buds that are very sweet to smoke. When the last little bud is cut off a plant, I pull the rest, which is no more than an old stem by this stage.

:peace: so... what do you smoke then? not seedy heads?

Let me see.....I can choose between having a year round supply of good quality weed that doesn't cost me more than about $10 for dynamic lifter and a few hours time - or - having a hissy fit because there are a few seeds in my bud.

This is a pretty uninformed comment Heli. Properly ripened, hung and cured bud will drop most of it's seed and all you do is collect them. And if you are so terribly put out by the though of picking the few remaining seeds out of the mull bowl, maybe you should just skip my posts from now on.

For the record, I haven't needed to purchase weed, seed, equipment or clones for 10 years. Do you have a better system?
