Pure Afghan x Skunk #1 Outdoors

Recommended Posts

I have pollinated a feminised skunk 1 with pure afghan male pollen.

Achieved this by butchering most of the male plant as soon as it was recognised as male, and leaving 2 small flowering tops. When they opened they were hit over a section of the female skunk, and some hairs have started going brown within a day or two... I don't know if this is a good thing?

Also, since the whole plant was not pollinated.. I wonder if the sections that are still growing without hairs will continue to grow until normal outdoors flowering time. (Usually after easter here, Perth)

It will be an interesting cross I think, as skunk 1 is a sativa dominant cross, and afghan is pure indica. I am hoping the plants will be a bit smaller and more hashy lol

Anyone got ideas?

Edit - I should mention this plant was started early and the buds being pollinated are from before it started regrowing over summer. Will fertilising the buds stunt more growth in the plant?

Hey Phreak you on the money mate. The browing off is the pistils is the take up of pollen and the start of seed formation. the Rest of the buds will flower as normal.

I do the same thing with my breeding males. I pull em out of the ground, pot them and move them 50 meters or so. Cut most of the limbs off leaving a couple of flower sights for pollen collection.

Your sweet as lol

btw what brand of afghan and SK#1 are you using?

Sensi skunk #1 and pure afghan from DNA

Hopefully these will make nice little babies lol

Wondering if the seeds will drop out before the rest of the buds are ready...

Maybe it would be a good idea to lay a white sheet under the plant in the yard when I see the seed pods opening?

Or should I remove the buds that look like they are about to release the seeds totally...

Sensi's skunk#1 is indica dom, it's tdf's 'the pure' that has more sativa, but either should make a nice cross with an northern affie.

The F1 generation should be fairly uniform, Skunk#1 breeds true enough and the way DNA describes their Pure Afghan, it sounds like it should too. Later, breeding from the f1 seeds when you'll see masses of phenotype variation, the f2 is called the 'segregating generation' with good reason.

Just as an aside... it's crossing skunk#1 with different affies that created both super and sensi skunk. So with the strains you are using, I expect you'll get a quality result.

So if your keeping a male for breeding you should trim it to leave only a couple of flowing sites is this correct? I have a WW male and female seperate in the backyard for seed production. I have been just letting them grow as is. Should i trim the male and when should flowering nutes be given for VIC. I have only grown indoors. Sorry for the thread hi jack

Cheers Chops

You would only want to butcher most of the male plant if you intend to collect the pollen and put it over one branch only...

If your plants are purely for seeds just put them right next to each other. But its always nice to get some for smoke lol

The less flowering sites which are the result of a hard trim back (I removed EVERYTHING except the top 5cm of the plant) makes it easier to collect the pollen without some sacs opening up unnoticed.
