How many plants and time

Hi all,

 

just been reading integral hydroponics. The author says that he prefers to have smaller but numerous plants.

I have heard some people prefer a couple of large plants rather than numerous small ones.

Which would be amoretti eficient and higher yielding way provided all our factors(temp, humidity etc) are ideal?

 

And what would be the best time? How many weeks for veg and how many weeks for flower.

 

I am currnetly on 5 veg and 8 flower

hi, i have tried both ways, small plants in numbers (20-25) & bigger plants in smaller numbers ( 4-10) & i preffer bigger plants to smaller... yields about the same, maybe a bit more with the bigger ones, but in the eyes of the law anything under 10 plants you should be ok,.. i once got caught with 6 plants ready to harvest & 18 clones, the clones got thrown out of court as they are not counted as a plant(a plant has a established 'root system) so the clones were not 'plants' yet... i recieved a $500 fine & 12 months good behaviour bond...& they took all my lights, nuitriants, air-con units, power boards, timers,EC & PH meters, the lot...

ahhhhh the age old question..... does size really matter lmao

 

well it really comes down to your paranoia really, for instance i use the SOG method (Sea Of Green = multiple clones per tub) and i put in about 4-5 clones per tub in a 6 pot system so thats anywhere from 24-30 plants, yes high numbers like that would make the po po just and click there heals but when it comes to growing ya fucked either way most of the time and if you include clones into it most people will have anywhere from 6-30 plants in there house at any givin time anyway (including mums) and as stated by Tony his clones that were found were thrown out of court as they were not counted as plants, thats a ver thin line that obviously payed off for him BUT everyone should not hope this will happen to them, i know for a fact that if a clone has even 1 root it can and in most cases will be classed as a plant, and when you think it can take only 1 week for a fresh cutting to start developing a root system then you can see its a very thin line....

 

So it really comes down to what you personally want to do, as stated i grow more numbers and use less time compared to less numbers. I harvest my room pretty much ever 3 months thats 2-3 weeks veg and 8 weeks flower i get rufly 4 grows per year where as you would get anywhere between 2-3 grows if using less plants and growing them bigger.

 

The other problem you have with bigger plants is bigger head room, this means you need a decent high roof say in a shed or similar i use a tent so im restricted in the head height i can get to.

 

So at the end of the day how many grows do you want a year and is ya paranoia under control is the real question hahahaha

well you just got to work out whatever area you got, then cover every useable sq. centimetre with bud sites

whether you do that by few hundred cuttings sent straight to flower or 3-4 plants trained under a screen aka scrog

i dont reckon there would be much difference between the 2 different methods, all other things being equal

 

cuttings to flower might be quicker, but dont get caught with big numbers ...

3-4 plants trained to cover same area take longer time, but doesnt sound like you doing anything but a personel grow

yes i was lucky with the clones, they said they could call some specialist in to see if they had rooted but said cost was to much for so little amount,

as said it comes down to the room you have to set up, i use a 2m x 2m x 2m cube tent, 3 weeks grow, 7-8 weeks flower(depending on strain used) & what ever i can fit in the back yard over summer/winter, i have a nice clone chamber aswell...

I got 4 x 600 hps. Is it better to have th SOG method or 2 large ones.
