hi all, djzs here

ive been smokin the green for as long as i can remember but have never thought about gorwing until recently. ive recently moved onto a 6 acre block in melaney qld which is in the mountains for u who dont know. im going to be growing mushies as well but have just got a few questions about growing.

i have 2 creeks on the block, would it be a good idea to grow right near the creek or a little bit away from it. does it matter?

if i grow the shrooms near by, is that going to make a difference?

whats the ebst fertilizer for a beginner thats going to generate a good harvest?

how much bud am i going to expect/plant from my first harvest?

how many plants would u suggest to start off, i was thinking 5. is that to much?

and just any other general tips u guys have thats going to make my life easier.

cheers

OK, where to start. Maleny is a GREAT growing area. My sister lives in Eumundi and does very well.

One thing though, I'm outside Melbourne, different climate etc., so what I do may not apply to you up there in Qld.

My comment is OVERPLANT. If you have a secure, outdoor area, plan on starting with a couple of dozen plants. They can be very close together - less than a foot apart. Cannabis grows up, it don't need much ground space.

To get two dozen plants, start off fifty or sixty seeds. Some won't sprout, some wont survive transplanting into the ground, others will just be puny or get eaten by bugs. Lets say you're left with 30 viable seedlings. Count on about 40% or more being males and a few more not getting very big. See the picture?

No one on earth can predict how much bud your plants will yield. Too many variables and you are an inexperienced grower so you will probably kill a lot of them off with your own anxiety instead of just letting them be. My advice is to start off with bag seed. If it was a good smoke there are no problems.

Let the first few crops pollinate and breed seeds so that you have more to play with the following year. I know seeds are a pain in the neck when you're mulling up, but think of the money you save! And some studies say that fertilised females are more potent because they are reaching their natural potential. I tend to agree.

Don't fiddle and fret over the plants, don't over fertilise and tell NO BASTARD that you are growing. Good luck.
