bush grower, wants to grow hydro

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Im a long time bush grower who would like to start my very own low key hydroponic set up, does not have to be anything flash as long as it does the job, i know this works for tomatoes and what not, but i would like to know if this works for MJ

get an esky with a hole cut in the top for a net pot to sit in nicely fill the pots with clay balls and perlite, then fill the esky with water and nutrients along with an air pump to keep the water aerated. Making sure the water is sitting a couple of cm up the pot to get the nutrients to the roots.

basically this video but done inside under lights with only 1 plant in the bucket.

also was wondering about lights, was not into spending heaps on lights and what not. I know you can grow with CFL's but can i just use a couple of 23watters purchased from my local light shop is there any particular one i should be using.

Another question a friend of mine had, can u manually water ur plants and collect the water from the bottom and reuse it?

forgive me i know im a pain in the arse....

Peace out Guitash

DWC (Deep Water Culture) method works well but its not my strong suit so i leave it for someone else to advise you on that

to the 2nd part of your query,

the idea of using 2 x 23watt cfl as lighting for your plant is not feasible if you are serious about producing a smoke for yourself

you are an outdoor grower so you can appreciate the intensity of sunlight and Cannabis' insatiable craving for intense light, its just not on with what you want to use,

99% 0f indoor grows use High Intensity Discharge lights because thats what works, the remaining 1% will tell you otherwise but im yet to see any evidence to support their claims of a satisfactory end result

no one is a bigger tight-arse than me and i find after the expense of purchasing 1 x 600watt (or 400 or even 250w for that matter) light and paying for the electricity that iam far better off financially and health wise than buying my smoko

to your mate yes handwatering a plant can be very successful method, but probably not worth saving the runoff to re-use, well use it on ya lawn of something but when you get the hang of it you have bugger all runoff anyway and nutes can be bought cheap

dont let my opinions discourage you from using 46watts of cfl, just prepare yourself for disappointment

thanks for your response after a long chat yesterday with Chato seems to be the master of aeroponics and DWC i have decided to give DWC ago it seems to be pretty much themost simple way to grow hyrdo and after looking on EBAY and finding the prices of HID lights are cheap cheap, i think ill go that way now to start getting my stuff together. Im pretty sure all i need is my container for DWC, the light a shade an extraction fan, and i have a portable air con unit that will be used to cool the water down. or would the the air con negate the need for a Extraction fan?
