Beans from PNG

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I've just received some nice beans from Papua New Guinea, the locals call it Mt. Hagen Madness  and it's meant to be a pretty good smoke, however, apparently these monsters can grow up to 20 feet :D and I was wondering if they would be any good for an indoor grow, tipped and tied, or should I wait for outdoors next season. I'm not sure if restraining a plants growth by such a large amount would have any negative effects?

Any info would be greatly appreciated ( as always ).

:faint: :peace:

G'day RR, I'll give the short veg. a go. Probably kick em off in about 6 weeks or so. Agreed, if it turns out to be a good one, I'll try and do some crossing. I'll have to brush up on my skills a fair bit ( been 18 years since I did my Hort. cert ). Would crossing it with an Indica strain compact it much? :peace: :faint:

You could start the plants on 12/12. I tried that once with nevilles haze f2s and it worked fine. they still ended up at about 3 ft.

I doubt you would have much variation if you made seeds. They are unlikely to be hybrids so wouldn't be strictly f2s. Does anyone know if cannabis is native to PNG? I kind of doubt it but the plants may have been growing in the area for generations. You are lucky having those. Hope they turn out.

you lucky bastard! PNG has some really good stuff. dude you shouldnt have a problem indoors but ive heard the sativas from PNG are pretty pure strains, I've seen a few pictures and doco's on them and the leaves are really narrow, almost like bamboo.

I love it when people get exotic strains.

G'day Freddie, thanks for the suggestion with the 12/12. Will def. give a go. My mate moved to PNG approx. 15 - 16 years ago and has been growing this strain from year 1. He travelled the world beforehand, so, the seeds could be from anywhere. Can't promise anything, but I'll try and get him to send me a couple of pics of 'em in the ground. :faint:

Yeah  Crank... very lucky indeed. I recall the cover of the Good Weekend years ago had a photo of a mountainside of monster plants, the size of the leaf looked like it would pretty well cover your whole face... :peace: Let's see what the future brings :faint:
